Happy Salmon, one of the greatest party games ever made - not just my subjective opinion, cold hard fact - has resurfaced with a new remake from the makers of Exploding Kittens. It was quite late and I didn't know these people, but I did it anyway because they promised it was quick and they were excited about it. Monster Match is unique among speed games for one simple reason: more than 1 person can get a match every round. Also perfect for convincing friends who claim they “don’t like playing games” that they actually love them.

Looking at the neoprene-like fish-shaped packaging, with the stupidly smug fish on it, I would forgive you for walking past this one.

Actions include the classic "High 5", the unifying "Pound It", the frantic "Switcheroo", and the delightful and bizarre "Happy Salmon". If we’re heading out the door to go to grandma’s for dinner, it’s so easy to grab the cute fish by the tail and toss the game in the car. Join the community and come discuss games like Codenames, Wingspan, Brass, and all your other favorite games! As you can see, these actions are definitely active – fist bumps, high-fives, slapping arms, and running around. Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands) may take longer to reach you.

Happy Salmon is one of those quirky games where it’s going to take you longer to read this review than it would to just play a game of it – though, I’m going to try to get through the game as quickly as possible. Once you have successfully done the action, both players discard the card and move onto the next card on their pile. Your card will have one of four actions on it and all you have to do is find another player at the table with a matching action and perform it with them. The actions are: High Five (fairly obvious), Pound It (a fist bump), Switcheroo (swap places) and Happy Salmon (a ridiculous flappy arm movement).This will make a great ice-breaker game, and I’m definitely looking forward to bringing this one to my next convention/invitational where it will certainly be amongst the loudest games in the room! The colour of the case is noticeably different, but inside that you have six sets of the same cards, with the same actions on. Besides, one of my friends (who's won the most games of Happy Salmon) mostly won because he was good at figuring out when to move on from the card he was holding - he won not because his deck is shuffled the best, but because he's good at figuring out when the thing he's holding doesn't work with what the others have. The game comes with a suite of cards and each player gets an identical deck to shuffle and start with, the only difference being that they have different coloured backs.

Of course, there is no guarantee that the new card will get a bite, only that the old action will be shouted vociferously as soon as you can’t join in.
