About this deal

We absolutely love mesh water bottle pockets because what is more important than hydration when you're traveling?

This bag falls into the middle of the road as far as cost goes, and, in many respects, so do its features. I think FP40 + Daylite Plus is a pretty strong option because the FP40 is more complete as a standalone pack. However if you could only just fit your gear into the old main bag you will now have to take less or get used to using the daypack for gear storage not just excursions.

Some travelers put their towels or dirty laundry in it, I didnt find this pocket useful and it stayed empty most of the time.

For this reason, if you like the look of this bag I think getting a Fairview/Farpoint 40 would make more sense. The main compartment features a couple of compression traps but no internal organization aside from a zippered mesh pocket on a flap.Of course, I found a solution by getting a few little bags so there’s always a solution, but having some pockets on the outside of the bag would just be so much nicer.

Ideal for longer travels, the Osprey Fairview 55 can be carried like a backpack but packed like a suitcase, and has a smaller detachable daysack that's the perfect companion for city exploring while you leave your main pack at the hostel. However, there are no advanced trekking features such as a trekking pole attachment or a place to put a water bladder. The new pack makes great strides in offering a user adjustable back system with the ability to slide the shoulder straps up and down to get the correct fit for you. If you are of non-average height (like me, I’m 6″5 or 194cm) then this is pretty awesome, as you’ll be able to adjust this pack exactly to your height requirements.

The great thing about both cards is that you can freeze them straight from your phone and transfer money between them in case you need to. The Farpoint 40 has a slightly less spacious main compartment, but it has everything else included, like a laptop sleeve and a quick access pocket on top. LD Mountain Centre does not accept responsibility for items being delayed through customs/ security checks or adverse weather conditions.

I find your reviews to be consistently clear, easy to understand, useful, and enjoyable to read/watch. The good news is that the latest editions have reduced the differences between these two packs, making it a bit easier to choose. I’m similarly 6’5″ tall and need a versatile pack suitable for general travel in Europe and Asia, trekking the Camino, on and off trains, etc. This post may contain affiliate links which means that if you purchase the product or make a booking via one of my links, I will receive a small commission. The back panel and shoulder straps mimic the main backpack harness with a ventilated die-cut spacer mesh construction, but you don’t get a hip belt due to its capacity (not that you need one). When it comes to colours there’s just the choice of two available at the time of writing with the “Misty Grey” and “Jasper Green” with the latter the choice of preference from us.
