About this deal

ultra-fast transmission, network connection and file transfer, get rid of annoying transmission lines, and create your wireless life.

As well as black, white, and three shades of grey, there is also a palette of additional colours, including red, green, and blue – these additional colours are not discernable on the NA2+’s monochrome screen but can be seen when the notebook is exported and viewed on a colour screen. Experience A Hassle-Free eReader Power your reading and daily usage with the powerful reading system and G-sensor. The game is afoot with e-ink tablets tumbling onto the scene these last couple of years, and the latest to land at Tech Advisor for review is the Boox Note Air 2 Plus from Onyx. By its nature, though, an e-ink tablet isn’t going to be used for rich content like video, so 64GB goes a long way when used for documents and audio files. While other e-ink tablets that run lighter interfaces tend to be relatively instant-on, as do Kindle eBook readers. It balances decently well in one hand, but is a bit too heavy to hold like that for extended periods. Note that there’s no fast-charging or wireless charging facility here; but since the device powers up so quickly, and USB-C chargers are so readily available, this was no cause for concern.

Unfortunately, it does not support ebooks that are protected with DRM, so you would have to use third-party apps rather than the native reader to view these files. A built-in Wi-Fi module allows you to use different services and Bluetooth makes it possible to connect a variety of external accessories. Protective glass from a well-known Japanese manufacturer ASAHI is placed over the E Ink screen and protects it from scratches and other damages. It enjoys orange accents that add pop to the package, and all things accounted for, styling is one of the tablet's best qualities. Let’s not pretend it can supply quality music – it cannot – but the tiny speaker is fine for audiobooks. The tablet can even simultaneously read Audible books out loud to you and show you their text, something regular Kindles can't do (especially because they don't have speakers). Like most E Ink devices, the Note Air 2’s display has paper-like qualities that make it a joy to read. The case did prove handy for keeping the e-reader protected on long journeys, but at home, I was happy to go without, in the main so that I could admire the deep pine green colour of the device. Like most e-ink tablet styluses ( other than the Supernote), it uses interchangeable plastic nibs that wear down over time and need to be replaced. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.

And with a modest Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 inside, processing clout is not the name of the game here. Thankfully, for its second-generation Note Air tablet, Onyx has improved both the pen magnet and case adhesion by adding magnets to the back – a huge improvement on both counts. Coloured comics also are displayed in great fashion, obviously as its in black and white there was some missing details but all it was very adequate. Its optional cases also missed out on magnets, instead featuring adhesive pads to stick the tab to it – more arts and crafts than premium slate. You can draw on PDFs in the built-in reader app (helpful for when you need to sign documents) as well as switch to a split-screen mode that lets you read or annotate a document on one side and take notes on the other. The inclusion of an E-Ink display meant that I didn’t ever use this device to watch video content, despite an app being available for download. After all, you'll likely be looking at static content on it – E-Books, PDFs and text files, which are generally smaller than 5MB. Not relying on cumbersome workarounds to get my notes into the applications that I use most is a powerful differentiator, and makes this tablet a no-brainer to use on a daily.
