After having tried various spiced rums (and enjoying most of them) I decided to give this one a try based on local reviews which were very positive. This artisanal rum is further distilled with Barbados' naturally coral-filtered water, considered amongst the purest globally, resulting in a superbly smooth and indulgent spirit - all presented in a stylish bottle that exudes sophistication.A perfect combination of spicy and smooth, Bumbu have infused their original rum with real dairy cream to create this innovative liqueur. The General Wine Company sources wines from all over the world, but with a particular focus on small, independent producers. Tasting Notes: Bumbu The Original is made using native Caribbean spices and sugar cane from across the region, the recipe is based on original recipes used by West Indian sailors in the 16th adn 17th centuries and is extremely drinkable! The results are our award-winning premium rums that are exceptionally balanced and smooth, without sacrificing the richness and complexity that makes our distilleries in Barbados and Panama the world’s best – even if we are a little biased.

The flagship bottling is the Bumbu Original , but for something extra special, the Bumbu XO is an extra special rum that’s spent 18 years in ex-bourbon barrels, before being finished in ex-sherry casks. The purest water in the wolrd is used, naturally filtered through Barbados’s coral limestone, blended with 8 unique sugarcanes. Rich notes of cinnamon, vanilla, oak, and butterscotch coat the palate before culminating in a long, warmly spiced finish. Beautiful sweet rum, I recommended putting it in the freezer a couple hours before drinking as you wont need any ice that way and it becomes thicker like a thin treacle. The aged Caribbean rum has had native spices added to it, inspired by 16th and 17th century recipes used by West Indian sailors.Today, we carry on that tradition by perfecting the rum craft, continuing this historic Caribbean tradition. Bumbu is blended with some of the world's purest water and aged in oak barrels to create a fine rum with a taste as complex as the brand's rich history. Bumbu is a full-bodied rum with rich and complex aromas of Madagascan vanilla, soft caramel and toasted oak. Hailing from Barbados, the original rum island, this brand is rooted in the rich history of the West Indies and works to extend its legacy as the ultimate source of extraordinary spirits.

Serving Suggestions: Bumbu Rum is delightful served neat or with ice, allowing the complex and balanced flavours to truly shine. Bumbu’s range of rums are produced in small batches, using sugarcane that derives from eight different countries, It’s distilled using two continuous pit stills and the yeast strain used during fermentation dates back to 1840!The Rum is stylishly presented in a heavyweight glass bottle that is a work of art on its own, adorned with a tarnished metal "X" in front and map of the Caribbean across the back. Here we have a higher strength bottling of the Original expression from Bumbu, now bottled at 40% ABV! Presented in ultra-heavyweight glass bottles with traditional oversized corks, this collection is as visually striking as it is delicious.
