About this deal

Michele De Lucchi, born in 1951, has been a protagonist of avant-garde architecture and design since the 1970s. It also looks great, I don’t feel the need to try and hide it away - I like seeing it on my counter tops and everyone always notices it and admires it. It’s now the leading figure in the field of Italian design, known and appreciated for its skilful mediation between intriguing expressions of creativity and the needs of the public. Alessi is an iconic Italian design brand that brings art, poetry and excellence into everyday objects.According to Michele De Lucchi, who designed Plissé, "A form with no folds is just a volume without form". USE AND MAINTENANCE: [Easy to use] Open the lid of the kettle by slightly moving the knob that acts as an opening button backwards. Designed by Michele De Lucchi, the Plissé kettle combines functional aspects with a plastic and fascinating design that reveals the creator's architectural background, as well as his passion for the handicraft and for sculpture. One of the hallmarks of Alessi's design philosophy is its attention to detail and the use of high-quality materials. As an added bonus, this kettle boils quickly and makes very little noise when doing so, it sounds much quieter than previously owned kettles.

Like a fabric that a thick pleating transforms into a three-dimensional shape, this kettle is reminiscent of an haute couture dress, a beautiful object to be left on display on your kitchen top. I bought to replace the Stelton Emma kettle so I like a good looking kitchen product but this doesn't do it for me. In almost a century of history, the company has gradually evolved to become one of the leading “Factories of Italian design”, capable of applying its expertise and excellence in design management to many different product types. Having a good kettle is an essential, for us and our kitchen, and Alessi’s electric plisse offering will slip right into routine and décor alike. The power supply base is hidden: at the bottom of the kettle, there’s a small opening used to pull the cable out.

Designed by Michele De Lucchi for Alessi, this electric kettle is very much a piece of art as well as an everyday practical kitchen accessory. PACKAGING: Proposed in a packaging with recycled cardboard, decorated with an original sketch by the author.

Recognised by its artistic structural folds, the Plisse electrical kettle is made to compliment any contemporary kitchen. Nothing cheap here, that’s for sure, but this is perfect for special treats, and there’s IKEA for the rest! The designer Michele De Lucchi took it as a model for his design of Alessi's Plissé electric kettle and designed a kettle that is anything but functional. The iconic high fashion pleated fabric clothes the series of small electrical appliances designed by Michele De Lucchi. His work balances functionality, aesthetics, and material exploration, inspiring future generations in the design field. With a sculptural form alluding to the folds of a pleated fabric the Plissé is very much a piece of art as well as a practical kitchen tool.
