About this deal

For astronomy, it is nice not to be constantly be playing with the centre focus wheel and the diopter to try and dial in perfect infinity . The lightweight housing of Steiner binoculars is made of high-strength Makrolon, making the construction highly shock-resistant. Comparing it with a Navigator 7x50, I found the better coatings of the 7x30 XP helped it keep up in terms of brightness. Just from this type of body shape, it is obvious that these Steiner Navigator Pro 7x30 binoculars and indeed all their marine binoculars have Porro prisms inside of them to correct the inverted image created by the lenses. Having said all that, for me and how I used them the FOV was plenty wide enough and I never had an issue with being able to quickly locate and then follow small fast-moving birds (like a kingfisher) on the bank of the river from the kayak.

Field of view The already impressive field of view of the Navigator Pro Series has been further improved. This large, illuminated compass also features a bearing mark and facilitates navigation on all bodies of water. When using the Navigator on land, it's a pity that the individual focusers turn so stiff; of course, for a marine binocular that may not be so relevant because at sea, you almost always observe at infinity. I was actually going to try this, but because I was also testing two other instruments and had my camera around my neck, I decided against a bino harness, but I think using one on a canoe could be a very good idea. However if you need a very good low light performance, you would still have to sacrifice on size and weight and go for a larger instrument, so something like a 7x50 for example that produce massive exit pupils of more than 7mm. However, I would say that whilst I would not describe them in any way as being heavy, after a full day of kayaking, I did start to feel the weight of these Steiner Navigator Pro binoculars around my neck towards the end.

So whilst it may not be as luxurious as a magnesium chassis, it is more lightweight and I would suggest easily strong enough to handle most mishaps onboard. If you are approved you can complete your purchase immediately Representative example: Representative 19. By attaching a strap to the binoculars' universal belt attachment, they are always within easy reach. The Illusion 7×30 is designed to give a very light weight binocular coupled with exceptional clarity and brightness. If you need to, you can actually reduce the minimum focal distance a fairly long way by adjusting both of the diopters. A few months ago, I alerted the forum to a "How It's Made" documentary that was being shown in the UK on the Quest channel (Freeview 38), and this showed Steiners being put together. No I don't have an Action 7x35, I wouldn't mind trying one of them though or maybe the new Aculon version.
