We lost a lot of people, a lot of people were wounded and many were disabled, that was a great tragedy for them, but they should feel proud and the Falkland Islands should feel proud that they'd all brought about this result.

Together with John Major, he is the only surviving member of Mrs Thatcher's cabinet who does not currently sit in either house of Parliament. After a residence of some time in Paris, he travelled for two years on the continent, in medical charge of an invalid gentleman. I had a huge great globe in my room in the Ministry of Defence and I went over to it to rediscover the geographical position of the Falklands.

This catalogue was prepared by Louise King, in September 2006, using the collection (fonds) level description and box list prepared by Katharine Thomson of Churchill Archives Centre in December 2004.My role in the project is to consider how epidemiologists collected scattered information from different sources into coherent and comparable datasets which could offer insight into patterns of disease. In his short time at the MoD he had instituted savage cuts on the military in general and the Royal Navy in particular.

The title of Nott's autobiography Here Today, Gone Tomorrow is a reference to an interview conducted by Sir Robin Day in October 1982.
