About this deal

com to record that I am either a Student, Parent, Nursery Teacher, Primary Teacher, Secondary Teacher, Literacy Coordinator, Librarian, Bookseller, Publisher or Other so that I can receive worldbookday. Drawing upon myth and historical sources as well as modern scientific advances, this book examines our ambiguous relationship with these ancient and yet ill-understood animals, describing their surprisingly complex anatomy, weaponry and habits, and their vital contribution to the ocean’s ecosystem. It’s always a useful reminder that, despite what our individualist culture and stories and tell us, death is not always an aberration, something a sneaky lawyer hid in the small print; it’s normal, necessary, and actually very helpful. Through engaging text, readers will discover the many species of jellyfish and their remarkable abilities, gaining a newfound appreciation for these seemingly simple creatures.

But also the description of all the aspects related to jellyfishes (anatomy, reproduction, ecology, etc) described clearly, makes this book an excellent read. There is a keen care for preciousness under threat, where the Welsh language is imperilled, just like the natural world’s rich diversity. The text sections can be quite technical, more biology textbook than I expected, but they're well balanced by the beautiful pictures and descriptions of exemplary or exceptional types of jellies. Desk and exam copies of certain titles are available to lecturers who wish to consider books as course texts. If you’ve recently developed an interest in Jellies, or have been frustrated and/or surprised with the lack of entry level content available this book deserves a place in your collection.

When Shane-Michael Vidaurri and I collaborated on All My Friends are Ghosts, we wanted to reach out to kids who may be experiencing the same struggles with loneliness that we faced in our own childhoods. Through humorous and engaging illustrations, this book teaches young readers the value of self-acceptance and celebrates the beauty of being different. The book also covers where jellyfish are found and the different types of jellyfish, including those that can be deadly and those that are harmless. With mind-bending discoveries and physiological gifts that feel closer to magic than reality, Jellyfish Age Backwards will reshape everything you thought you knew about ageing - and reveal nature's secrets to unlocking your own longevity.

You’ll meet the microscopic creatures that can survive in the vacuum of space, and wonder – could aliens really exist?Peanut Butter and Jellyfish– Peanut Butter and Jellyfish are best of friends and swim up, down, around, and through their ocean home. When not busy doodling, Liz is usually found hiking and biking around the Yorkshire countryside and playing tennis for her local club. In "Jessie the Jellyfish," author Laurie Newman tells the tale of a lonely jellyfish living in the polluted waters of our oceans. This book is a great way to introduce children to the importance of environmental conservation in a fun and engaging way. This fantastical journey into the wild and surprising realms of space weaves together astronomy, physics and biology, and is sure to inspire space-obsessed and animal-loving kids everywhere.
