I enjoyed this short film quite a bit, though of all the films nominated for Best Animated Short this year, I think it and "Let's Pollute" have the least chance of winning the Oscar. I must admit I was a little bit wary of getting this for my children, as I couldn't work out how you could make the story of the Gruffalo last long enough to make a stage show out of it. I think it must be the best adaptation of a children's book I have ever been to (and I've been to a few. Contrary to a few reviews I think the main actress is great and her facial expression and actions are super! Also available in the collection of much-loved family films based on the wonderful books written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, are: The Gruffalo’s Child, Room On The Broom, Stick Man, The Highway Rat and Zog.Each of the characters is brought to life through songs, which are simple enough for children to sing along with, and the characterisation of the animals is wonderfully done. Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. Encountering three predators who all wish to eat him a fox, an owl and a snake the plucky mouse has to use his wits to survive, creating an imaginary monster who then turns out to be only too real. I was even captivated by the lovely story line and watching the cute little brown mouse go onto his journey of creating the “Gruffalo” .
