About this deal

Brand, a young historian specialising in eighteenth-century romance, traces the many ways that historical events cut across their lives, complete with observations from family acquaintances Horace Walpole and Samuel Johnson. She advises UHNW individuals on cases involving complex assets and structures including family businesses, offshore trusts, private equity and hedge funds. She is also a gifted storyteller, employing a variety of devices familiar from fiction which keep the reader’s attention and form a compelling story. Her new book The Fall of the House of Byron, her first substantial work of narrative non-fiction, is due for publication by John Murray in April 2020. I work primarily in oil and acrylic paints and have always loved the way you can use the paint to create various effects.

Her book The Fall of the House of Byron (John Murray, 2020) was selected as BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week, and a Sunday Times, Mail on Sunday and BBC History Magazine Book of the Year. We also use them to help detect unauthorized access or activity that violate our terms of service, as well as to analyze site traffic and performance for our own site improvement efforts. Luckily for us, so does Sarah Dent, who has reviewed for the blog Emily Brand's game-changing family study of the Byrons.

Emily previously worked as a senior editor of academic history, trade history and classic literature for the University of Oxford. She also notes that the bond between Byron and Augusta was, in part, informed by interest in their shared ancestry and sense of family legacy. Brand should be commended for her command of detail and use of often extremely obscure period sources to illuminate both character and setting. Kathryn Sutherland ‘A hauntingly beautiful portrait of the Byron dynasty’ Rebecca Rideal ‘A fascinating, gripping, and evocative family epic’ Suzannah Lipscomb In the early eighteenth century, Newstead Abbey was among the most admired aristocratic homes in England. Whether in court proceedings or negotiating private settlements, Emily delivers results for her clients, always focusing on their specific needs.

His family, he would come to learn, had in recent decades become known for almost unfathomable levels of scandal and impropriety, from elopement, murder, and kidnapping to adultery, coercion, and thrilling near-death naval experiences. Emily's experience ranges from drafting pre and post nuptial agreements to litigating on children disputes in the High Court.clients adore her and she's also no-nonsense; she's very good at giving realistic and proper advice to clients in a very palatable way, which is a bit of an art'.
