When my son got eczema (the first real outbreak) doc recommended hydrocortisone twice a day on the affected area but also lipid rich moisturizer all over his body twice a day for a while, then once, then a couple of times a week. I can't do that sometimes, but I have noticed that leaving it on for 10 min then rinsing it out cleans better than just a quick wash. Other than having a good safety profile and being quite gentle to the skin it has some other advantages too. I do not know why the products I was used to suddenly become so inferior or maybe my hormones changed due to age but I will never use shampoos containing SLS henceforth.

Also: I strongly recommend changing to a laundry liquid or laundry power which does not contain fragrance or other irritants. Just that when we've used it, it was mild and kind of conditioning so I think using it for shampoo, at least for a little while, would be fine.
