About this deal

The smudge becomes the face of a bunny, a crumpled ball of paper turns into a lamb’s fleecy coat—celebrate the oops in life.

Mud , Crazy Hair Day and the bestselling Touch and Feel Kisses series with over 800,000 copies in print. I bought it for my nephew who was going through a phase of only wanting to do things if he was perfect at doing them - I hope it helped him see the beauty in mistakes too!Inspiring and inventive, this interactive board book teaches a valuable lesson: ‘When you think you have made a mistake, think of it as an opportunity to make something beautiful! In this book, every page begins with a 'mistake' that ultimately unravels, lifts out, or pulls up to become a surprising work of beauty. Kids see firsthand as they go through the book that any smudge, smear or stain can lead to something absolutely marvellous - with a little imagination. Really fun idea but not sure of who its audience is meant to be -not sophisticated enough for adults and too many parts to destroy for little ones!

It's a nice length too - maybe about a 5 minute read but feels substantial so it's brilliant if you want a quick bedtime story, and it's solid enough for it to be safe in the hands of a small toddler. is filled with pop-ups, lift-the-flaps, tears, holes, overlays, bends, smudges, and even an accordion “telescope”—each demonstrating the magical transformation from blunder to wonder. After reading it, have the art teacher demonstrate how she can turn an artwork "mistake" into something beautiful. There is also a YouTube video of the book with a perfect song (also titled: "Beautiful Oops") in the background: http://www.It has lots of brilliant flaps and things that my toddler loves to interact with, for example it shows a bent page corner that has been turned into a penguin, or a rolled up ball of paper that's now a sheep. to mean that someone is cross, but artist Jean Jullien gets readers to think about it differently in this brilliant and original board book about our expressions and what causes them. The kids love the fact things, that often would get them into trouble become acceptable in this book, as long as its not giving them ideas !

But little kids sometimes have trouble dealing with their mistakes, whether it's a piece of artwork they've torn by accident, or juice they've spilled on their favourite drawing. This is a quick read and can be read with preschoolers (though some of the flaps may be fragile), but it can also be read with elementary students. He has two new releases, Tea With Grandpa and Chengdu Could Not Would Not Fall Asleep coming this spring. His books have won numerous awards, including NAPPA Gold Awards, Publishers Weekly and Kirkus Starred Reviews. Barney is passionate about working with children, parents, teachers, organizations on the art of making mistakes and finding play and creativity in our everyday lives. The folded-over paper can be a penguin's head; a torn piece of newsprint can turn into a smiling dog with a little application of paint; a hot-chocolate stain can become a bog for a frog. A singular work of imagination, creativity, and paper engineering, Beautiful Oops is filled with pop-ups, lift-the-flaps, tears, holes, overlays, bends, smudges, and even an accordion telescope each demonstrating the magical transformation from blunder to wonder.

Beautiful Oops is a fun, wonderful book that teaches children that mistakes can be opportunities for creativity. At first, I thought that this book would be best for young children, much younger than my second-grade students. You could even invite students to come up to pull the different tabs to demonstrate a mess turning into a masterpiece! is filled with folded, crumpled, die-cut, and lift-the-flap pages that will challenge the reader’s sense of play. This is a gorgeous book about making the best of what you have, turning negatives into positives, and it's so fun and such a fantastic lesson to teach. When I first read this with my daughter (who is a 5-year-old perfectionist) I thought “cute but I doubt it will make a difference.
