This book is incredible in its own right, and once you get past the slight similaries at the start, and they are only slight similarities; you get to the thumping heart of the book and when you reach that point, you will be totally hooked on it and won't want to stop reading for anything. Yes it has ever so slight samesy situations as Harry Potter, like orphanened, magic and there’s a kind of school element I guess. There were apparently other verbs that were used even more (73 chuckles vs 17 smirks), but once I started noticing it it just seemed like all any of the characters were doing was smirking and it got really distracting.

This all was a perfect introduction to this world, teaching Harley and us at the same time everything we need to know.
