With five ruined walls and two larger ruins offering deadly vantage points for snipers, and plenty of doors and hatches for sneaky operatives to get the jump on their foes, it’s the perfect stage for a bloody bout of covert operations. If Chalnath doesn’t take your liking, or you would just rather wait and see if there’s another expansion box on the way that’s more up your street, it seems likely that we’ll be seeing at the very least two more expansions in the first two quarters of 2022. The Kill Team Octarius boxed set is one choice, its great value and not only does it contain two additional Kill Teams (Death Korps of Krieg Guardsmen and Ork Kommandos), it also contains terrain and the game rules as it contains the Kill Team Core Book (plus a host of other essential products every Kill Team player should own).

I’m a big fan of narrative right now, and these really scratch that narrative itch and would work brilliantly within a Spec Ops campaign. There are definitely a ton of options, so we’ll have to see what wargear is good when they come to 40k, as GW also said the new equipment will be usable in 40k as well with new rules!Once again you have a wide selection of narrative Spec Ops rules to use, just as with the Novitiate Kill Team. The scenery included in Chalnath is also great (and doesn’t look like it’s come out of an ice cube tray), and the gaming board, whilst a little plain, doesn’t give you a headache.

Perhaps I wasn’t shaving off my sprue gates well enough, but between a mould line remover, a file and a decent pair of RedgrassGames Precision Nippers I like to think I’d done a good enough job tidying up the sides of these things. Beneath, we have the last few bits in the box: the double-sided game board, the Chalnath book, the bases, as well as the Sisters of Battle and T’au Vi’orla Sept transfer sheet. It is, however, not without its flaws: frustrating scenery builds and an at times confusing and convoluted build guide can leave you scratching your head and wondering what exactly it is you’ve done wrong at points during the build process. So even if you just want the minis inside for 40k, the terrain will be perfect for those games as well! Kill Team: Chalnath moves the action away from the Octarius Sector to the Chalnath Expanse, where elements of the T’au Fifth Sphere Expansion are battling the Adeptas Sororitas for the hearts and minds of the people living there.

I don’t know if it was me, but I could not get the various side panels on the larger structures to go together.
