About this deal

By the 1800s there were 13 breweries in the small village, such was the popularity of their wheaty output. The spicy coriander is present, along with some floral notes, but there is a sweetness there which I don’t remember from before. Harry Lewis, VP New Brands, Premium and Super Premium at Anheuser-Busch, says Hoegaarden Soft Brew is an example of how Anheuser-Busch (the US arm of the world's largest brewer AB InBev) is using its brewing expertise to innovate in the relatively new no/low alcohol space - one that is growing fast as consumers seek out healthier options. Other theories suggest that this harks back to a time when people put fruit flavours into their beers to make them taste better. The body is quite light, as is the carbonation, and we get a sweet, slightly perfumed finish to the drink.

And Lewis believes Hoegaarden Soft Brew is more than simply a non-alcoholic beer: it believes it can hit the bullseye when it comes to numerous US beverage trends such as premiumization, bold fruit flavors, ready-to-drink options and portability. For example, they choose specially selected yeast varieties that convert fewer sugars into alcohol, or yeast varieties where the fermentation process can be broken down before actual alcohol is formed. Like me and many others, do you suffer from a health condition preventing you from consuming alcohol? The brand's history goes back some 600 years, with the Belgian wheat beer Hoegaarden White initially brewed by monks in the town of Hoegaarden. If you can recommend a better truly non alcoholic (0,0%) white beer if you feel that hoegaarden is not good enough, that would be helpful.

But yeah, if you think about it, without the alcohol, it is like a soft drink, but definitely less sweet. A creamy head grows up a couple of fingers in height before then receding somewhat, but still hangs around for the session.Loyalty points cannot be used to purchase vouchers, nor will you accrue points for spending gift vouchers. On the nose we get grains, lemony citrus and floral notes, and a touch of banana, though this is veering on bubblegum artificiality. Its certainly a business move, just a shame I think, although as you mentioned, the beer has been tweaked a bit from the original formula.
