The Pioneer DDJ-FLX6 is a 4-channel DJ Controller that boasts new features, a unique style, fresh looking layout, full-sized jog-wheels, use of pro-sounding scratch effects, and the ability to mix tracks from different genres effortlessly. In total, if rekordbox is the selected music software management system then there are eight Merge FX pattern presets (this reduces to four if Serato DJ Pro is in use), and everything is customisable. As the Flex is dual platform, the unit offers Dual Deck Controls – making four deck mixing and transitioning simple and effective.

One Merge FX is made up of four categories Build FX, Build Sample, Release FX and Drop Sample, which include 41 types of effects, all of which can be united to create over 9,000 different patterns.The VirtualDJ software will also be available to use with the original DDJ-FLX6 (black/white models) by updating the unit to the latest firmware version, and TRAKTOR PRO 3 will be available to use with either model by downloading the mapping files (TSI file). With this regard, I would have considered the FLX10, but it's like 4x a used flx6 and I would only use it for private parties with friends, so I suppose it is overkill for my use case. Increase the influence of the effect by simply turning the knob — depending on the preset pattern you’ve chosen, the combination of different effects and samples is triggered at the same time. The Pioneer DDJ-FLX6-GT introduces a new look and feel for its full-size jog wheels, which feature a graphite color plus a metallic texture on top and a rubberized coating on the outer ring for improved playability.

Just days after the launch of the new two-channel DDJ-FLX4 controller, Pioneer have announced an upgrade to the larger model in the versatile FLX range. Energetic and intuitive performances come with ease, thanks to the layout, inclusion of full-sized jog wheels and brand-new Jog Cutter feature on the DDJ FLX6.One great aspect of the Merge FX is that they allow for very complex FX chains, which would usually require more than two hands. Operation couldn’t be simpler – just tap the button in the centre of the Merge FX control and then twist the outer ring to set the intensity. When the FX are released, the track playing on the channel you’re transitioning from will stop playing. While there’s no jog wheel adjustment, like that offered by the DDJ-800 and DDJ-1000, the tension setting feels just right – especially if you’re upgrading from the smaller DDJ controllers. All you need to do is connect using a USB cable to a connected laptop that is running either of the music software applications, and you are ready to get DJing.

No matter what the BPM or key of the next track is, you can create an exciting transition whenever you want. The FLX6, however, features a new high-quality dark grey matte finish and re-designed jog wheels that will be sure to make your DJ setup stand out.The rest of the unit also boasts a sophisticated look, with a brand-new matte gray color across its body. With full size jog wheels, which are the same size as the flagship CDJ-3000, as well as a four-channel mixer - the first thing you’ll notice about the DDJ-FLX6 is that it feels like a step up from the entry level Pioneer DJ kit. There are 10 different scratch patterns and you can switch from one to another by simply moving the playhead position, shown on the jog wheel’s display, to point toward the angle for the scratch you want to use. If you’re using Rekordbox DJ there are over 9,000 possible effect and sample patterns – giving you multiple drop options.
