About this deal

And even though I wasn't completely satisfied with the last few chapters, I did have fun reading this one. Stephanie supports her husband totally but when Erica and the police start probing, Stephanie's trust in her husband begins to falter and doubts in their relationship begin to crop up. Her story telling is so strong and so are her characters that I just expect that to carry through till the end but it just seems to lose a little power going into the ending.

I’m sure in the author’s mind it was a fiendishly clever example of poetic justice meant to be her mic drop moment, but in reality, it just came across as horribly contrived, leaving me feeling cheated. She knows Patrick isn’t perfect and he’s made plenty of mistakes, but could he really be capable of murder? Erica gives us someone we love to hate but there is a chance she is telling the truth and if she is, Stephanie and her babies are in grave danger. Thirty-year-old Stephanie Kilgour and her architect husband Patrick are living the American dream with their twin baby daughters Emma and Jackie.I have a bone to pick: There’s a scene where a character wants to know what’s in a mysterious safe deposit box. There are also elements of courtroom drama and, as always with Shari Lapena, a carefully constructed narrative that looks simple on the surface but contains a multitude of hidden layers underneath. Devastated that her husband has been keeping secrets from her, Stephanie’s trust in him is also eroding.

This particular author is new to me but it sounds like she has written a number of Regency romances but from a smaller publisher and it looks like she has quite a fan base established and I am super excited to share more about this upcoming series with you guys today! While Stephanie struggles with the disorienting effects of sleep deprivation, there's one thing she knows for certain - she has everything she ever wanted. if you’re one of the many people who counts [ And Then There Were None] among their favorite books, you will love An Unwanted Guest. It is a thriller that creates a somewhat tense atmosphere of paranoia and mistrust, while the concept is a good one despite possessing a lack of originality in places. And the worst thing is she already incepted suspicion seeds inside Stephanie sleep deprived, paranoid mind. They knew so much past human intellect that the human vocabulary could not even describe what they were feeling. But then, maybe most of the people are alike because this cast of characters all seem to have secrets that they are hiding. Some secondary plots could have been better resolved and some forensic details were hard to ignore as IRL they would have changed the outcome of the investigation.

When a woman shows up in Stephanie's life claiming her husband Patrick murdered his first wife, her life is thrown into turmoil. There are differences of opinions among readers on the ending but after I picked my jaw up off the floor I decided I loved it. A blackmailer and seducer, Erica also targets Patrick’s business associate Nick Foote and Nick’s wife, plus another couple.

A doughnut that sits next to a dozen more beautiful and delicate patisseries in the bakery, but still manages to seduce the eye and satisfy the stomach.
