About this deal

From the oldest British port house, founded in Portugal in 1670, comes this beautifully vibrant ruby-coloured tawny. Very inky in hue, this is very tight indeed, with classic Dow dryness/austerity – firm tannins and a yet to be mined concentrated seam of minerals, black currant, berry and cherry. These dry sherries – in fact the driest type of sherry – are made from palomino grapes, and are known for being light, great with food, and refreshing.

A fine tipple to round off your Christmas celebrations splendidly, especially if served with ripe Stilton. We can't offer refunds or exchanges on perishable goods such as flowers and food, unless faulty or not as described. Give it a little time to open-up in the glass and it will reward you with wood, berries, a little stone fruit including apricot, and a beautiful long finish with a hint of almond.

Dow's Christmas Port is a specially selected blend of rich, vibrant young Ports that have been carefully matured in oak.

He married an Englishwoman and was rapidly assimilated into London society where his business acumen led to a fine reputation for his wines.
