About this deal

We received a Polar Blue guitar for our review, but it’s also available in Sunburst, Black, and White if blue isn’t your color. Switching between single-soil and humbuckers isn't super intuitive, and I worry about the knob breaking with time, but I like having the option. Only issues I could find are the front pick guard has an almost unnoticeable blemish on the edge, and the back plate did not have a beveled edge like my previous donner guitar, which I smoothed out with a nail file. He started playing bass and guitar in 1998, and played the local scene throughout his teen years before life got in the way.

The pickups get minimal 60 cycle hum when using high gain even on position 1 which was very shocking. Correct intonation is achieved by adjusting the length of each string at the string saddle (located on the bridge) to compensate for different string gauges, tunings, heights, and string material. In this article, I will discuss the features, pros and cons of this guitar that I have been playing for about 5 months.

Donner Electric Guitar, 39" Electric Guitar Kit HSS Pickup Coil Split, DST-152R Beginner Set with Amp, Bag, Capo, Strap, String, Tuner, Cable, Picks, Metallic Ice Blue This is our second Donner guitar, we also have their acoustic. It should also be noted that the DST-152 is one step up from Donner’s mega-budget DST-100 strat style guitar, and sits below their Seeker series strat, the DST-400, which we will be reviewing at a later date.

The string height can be adjusted for each individual string via Allen screws on each side of the saddle. I couldn’t find the info on the Donner site how to change strings for this guitar, but figured it out from a musicians’ board. I’m going to reveal my honest opinion about this guitar, and I’m sure you’ll notice I speak the truth and reveal all the cons I found too. Then leave enough length for a few wraps around the post, you can measure an additional length of about 4-5cm of string from the tuning post (Figure 2.For me, this doesn’t really matter since I mostly adjust the tone knobs and only sometimes turn the volume to around 8 instead of 10. The most disappointing element was the nut, which was poorly cut and caused some hang ups, especially with big bends and trem use.

When you use a strap on the guitar, please make sure to use a high-quality strap and check whether the strap is safe and intact. This guitar has a tint of green in the ice finish, and it seems like there were not enough coats, the wood tint leaks through, so overall the color is very bland. I’m missing some basics about electric but for now I’ve got my hands full (duhhh) learning chords, picking, and learning to read guitar music notation. It comes with everything you need to play right out of the box if you're a beginner or if you're a seasoned musician that just needs a home practice kit.For guitar, this little amp is fun and OK for someone starting out and maybe for someone who values easy storage/mobility. Donner has been committed to designing a perfect - classic electric guitar for beginner, you can play it immediately when you receive Donner electric guitar kit! Paired it up with an Orange Crush 20 amp and have the retro sound of 60s and 70s that I was hoping for.
