For this beer, cherries are then added to give the beer a pleasant and full fruity sweetness that offsets the sour base before a pleasing and refreshing tart finish. Since our Cherry CHOUFFE contains actual cherry juice, Marcel and Micheline need cherries to give this beer its beautiful ruby colour. There it is blended with pure organic cherry, strawberry, raspberry or apricot fruit juices and more organic beer to create fruit beers of considerable strength and flavour. This classy beer represents the perfect marriage between the fresh accents and slightly acidic flavour of the black cherries. Achouffe is a nod to the local village and as for the gnome on their bottles – well, that was a flash of inspiration by brewer Chris.

We have worked with our friends across the beer industry for nearly two decades, sourcing world-class craft beer from all around the globe and delivering it direct to people's doors. Surprised to discover a glowing red beer with a fruity taste, the Master Brewer finally decided to transfer it to barrels.

Its unique dark red colour is obtained by mixing Kasteel Donker that has been left to mature for at least 6 months in Belgium with sour cherries. This Belgian beer has gastronomic qualities and can be drunk as an aperitif, to accompany a dessert or simply as an outstanding real ale. Further ageing and refermentation has drawn out a beautiful colour and complexity of cherry fruit, almond and oak flavours. We have matured this cherry beer in oak casks for three months resulting in a beer that is accented with a delicious balance of ripe cherry sweetness, hints of oak, and a refreshing tart finish. The smooth distinctive character of the matured beer serves as the perfect counterpoint to the pure organic fruit juice.
