About this deal

He has to go in and save in spite of the fact that he is not a gamer, nor does he have any real game knowledge or experience. I give a real tip of the hat to Chris Carney for the conception and the implementation of this tale. But Gryph as he is known in game, is courageous to a fault and never one to back out of a fight, he struggles on and meets others who he befriends and teams up with, namely Ovrym, Wick and Tifala and using their cunning and wit they do their utmost to kill the Barrow King and exit the vile dungeon. The Barrow Kings claimed descent from the First King of the First Men, who is said to be buried at the Great Barrow in Barrowton.

This mighty and giant warrior of ages long forgotten has been resurrected by foul means to walk the earth once more. This really makes it hard for the reader to enjoy the flow of the book, as it does not seem to matter what went before, what will happen next is not dependent upon the past.It was too much like watching someone play a boring computer game and not enough like reading an exciting fantasy adventure! It is nice to see a MC in a RPG book that doesn't really have a history of playing video games, but he learns how game mechanics work while trying to stay alive so that he can find his sister.

I think it is worth noting that I listened to this one and ended up doing a lot more multi-tasking than usual while "reading" this story so I've no idea if that ended up having a negative effect on my feelings about it.

Instead of spending time on a six page backstory, what if instead that effort was put in to the adventure proper? I agree that it’s nice to have some “local flavor” items to BS off of when players ask, but “eggs and produce” is so… if it wasn’t included it wouldn’t be missed and it’s an example pointing of the type of “fluff” in the module. He can do this with some sweet magical gear and possessing a godhead super divine artifact that makes him well. The stats got boring quickly as there was just too many of them and there was such an obsession with the game mechanics that it all felt a bit confusing and needless at times.

The skill descriptions were in-depth, and there was a good level of detail with the ‘in-game pop-ups’ which helped Finn, sometimes this felt a little bit much, but it helped understand the quests and Finn’s dilemma’s during his dungeon run. A standard issue for spec ops agents, high-end bodyguards, and anyone else who desired both protection and fashion.During Combat The Barrow King charges into combat with Vital Strike and uses Cleave and Step Up to keep from being surrounded. She rounded a corner, forcing calm into her nerves and the smile that had charmed millions warmed her face. This was an OK tale so I'll press onto the second instalment of the series and try to give that a bit more of my full attention. If you're the type of reader who favours a more system orientated read with in depth skill descriptions then this will certainly tick that box. Honestly I couldn't put this book down, as a lover of fantasy nd a gamer the level of story telling and attention to detail crafted in this book sucked me right in.
