VENSI is a revolutionary coffee glassware line that combines the science and engineering from wine and spirit glasses with what was missing from coffee. The AVENSI design requires a handcrafted process involving two separate precisely machined carbon molds: one for the inner wall, and a two-part mold for the faceted outer wall. Given the aromatic complexity and wide spectrum of taste in coffee, you would think coffee would offer a similar number of glassware options. The unique rim architecture of each glass directs the flow and spread of coffee onto specific areas of your tongue and palate, creating a unique tasting experience that will enhance your coffee’s flavor notes in different ways.

That is why I was so excited to find the AVENSI glassware set from ICOSA Brewhouse a few weeks back. Throughout the entire development process, over 90 coffee experts from 30 countries volunteered their time to offer their ideas and test our prototypes (and of course copious amounts of coffee were consumed).

The move marks a big step forward for the Speedworks Motorsport team, which has run a privately funded Avensis model in the championship since 2011 for two-time Independents Trophy winner Tom Ingram. The unique Hybrid Thermal Wall design is comprised of a single-wall upper portion that dissipates heat more quickly as you swirl. We thought long and hard about the best way to get people excited about using the AVENSI glasses for the first time. This is first and only generation of Avensis sold in Egypt and Morocco, not in Persian Gulf countries.

Each glass has a “perfect pour line” that tells you where the best amount of coffee is to optimize aromatic diffusion (and allow you to swirl the coffee without it spilling).

It’s fun to have an excuse to experiment with coffee and try to discover something new in a coffee you’ve had many times before. Just like wine and whisky, this simple action aerates your coffee, and focuses the beautiful aromatics towards your nose and mouth. After many years of experimenting with many vessels for coffee, I love the fact [the AVENSI] cups provide a wide range of possibilities to express my coffees, giving more control over the result of what a coffee can be. They have encouraged experimentation, caused me to slow down and have helped me appreciate both the aromatics and flavor notes in my coffee more. The changes were first shown in September 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show [12] before sales started in January 2012.
