Not to say that the palate is sweet — it is — but it’s a bitter contrast to the overly sweet nose from earlier creating a wonderful blend of flavors. If you’ve been around the American bourbon block, you will immediately recognize the nose of the Arran Quarter Cask. The liquid was initially matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels for 7 years before being transferred for secondary maturation into smaller Quarter casks also made of the finest American oak for a further 2 years.

Between 1995 and 2002, he lived and worked in the Cape, witnessing the renaissance of the post-apartheid wine industry. A fine example of Arran Whisky’s range, their Quarter Cask Finish single malt is rich and intensely fruity with notes of apple tart and pineapple brioche, sweet cinnamon and vanilla spice, making it a sure favourite for a whisky lover. This single malt Scotch whisky was bottled in September 2017, without chill filtration or artificial colouring at a natural cask strength 53. These are far smaller than the casks that are usually used and it impacts the flavour in a big way; there is an incredible intensity of flavour due to the greater contact between the whisky and the oak. It has a great taste and goes down very smoothly and just a splash of water really opens up the smell and flavours, I can't recommend this enough.
