About this deal

Let’s see what would have been played at the club I went out to later that night (spoiler: none of the following, ’cause I’m pretty sure I went to Opium rock club, which didn’t play a lot of chart music).

The first track, "See You Again" was made for the 2015 film "Furious 7" as a tribute to late actor, Paul Walker. It has pretty much every song you've heard in the past 4 months or so (except Will Young, Gareth and the Darkness). Shout out to Delta Goodrem's Innocent Eyes - my favourite song of the year and obviously she was on the Hits albums instead but I would have LOVED to see this on Now. Though I didn't think it at the time, mid-late 2003 was actually a fairly vintage time for pop despite the very low sales climate. Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body: Great disco inspired track, though it should have been on Now 55 as it was a hit in May/June. and had all my favourite songs on it like sweet dreams my la ex, slow, crazy in love, hole in the head, superstar, surrender (your love), maybe, life got cold, are you ready for love and mad world.

The only other performer to get a Hollywood star at her age was Little House on the Prairie actress Melissa Gilbert. There are a few artist who made their only series appearance on this volume, and these were Lumidee, Stacie Orrico, Phixx, D-Side, Mark Owen (as a solo artist), Joe Budden, Rishi Rich Project, Starsailor and Michael Andrews. The rival Hits series, which by this time was up to Hits 57, was nearing it's end when less label politics would come into effect. For example Busted's Sleeping With The Light On is long forgotten by now, but Crashed The Wedding is the current single. Michael had failed in his court wrangle with Sony after accusing it of "professional slavery"; his contract was bought out by Virgin Records. I haven't played myself for 20+ years but the tone of the guitar was so sweet and the action so easy to play that I couldn't resist. The only bad part is that some of the songs on here could have been updated by newer, more recent hits. My other favourites include Where Is The Love, Sweet Dreams My LA Ex, Slow, Crazy In Love, Hole In The Head, Superstar, Pretty Green Eyes, Mixed Up World, Something Beautiful (I know people don't have a lot of time for this but it's got a quirky singalong charm.
