About this deal

As the body begins to sweat, or when you start to overheat, the fabric allows there to be a steady airflow in and out of the jacket, which will work to keep the body feeling cool and comfortable. Cut: Quite long in the body for maximum coverage, including most of the bum; on me the jacket fits well under a harness or rucksack hip belt, and isn't hugely prone to ride up when climbing. To resolve your query efficiently we use a claim form and case / ticket system, complete the form, add all the details required, and we'll get straight on to sorting it out. LD Mountain Centre does not accept responsibility for items being delayed through customs/ security checks or adverse weather conditions. I was looking for a totally waterproof jacket with some level of insulation, after being out in an absolute deluge for over an hour, the Gortex simply rolled the rain into small droplets and they rolled off leaving the jacket completely dry, I deliberately went a size up to allow my super insulated down jacket to fit underneath, the insulation is OK but maybe I feel the cold these days and the jacket is very light weight.

Dan Bailey reviews three synthetic insulated jackets, made by UK-based brands, and built (albeit not in Britain) with the soggy British cold in mind. I’d either go to your local TKMaxx and have a browse or check out what’s on offer at Sport Pursuit as looks come into it a lot for a casual jacket IMO. Montane's Men's Duality Lite Jacket stands as the ultimate solution for individuals seeking a perfect blend of warmth and weather protection in a single package, designed to meet the demands of mountain walking and mountaineering. Either helmeted or not, the hood moves well with my head side-to-side, but with a lid on and the hood fully zipped the full head-back position feels slightly hampered and my chin tends to pop out. The double YKK zip is really handy, it has plenty of inconspicuous pockets (2 waist, 1 external chest, 1 internal chest), is a good length on the body and arms (I’m athletic 5’11” and have a size S), and has a well adjustable hood. When I'm totally zipped up, side-to-side helmeted head movement is quite badly restricted, and I have to try very hard to look directly upwards at all. It also doesn’t have internal pockets which annoys me (hence my interest in this thread as I’m looking for similar, I also want a detachable hood).

For general winter hillwalking it's a decent hood, and certainly keeps the weather out; but it's not brilliant for helmet wearers.Despite the marked drop in temperature I stayed toasty (though not too hot) in the Flux and even appreciated the extra-long hand-swallowing cuffs. I’ll take this opportunity to shamelessly mention I’m going to be selling an XL Paramo Pajaro when I can be bothered taking the photos.

That may well be because of the light packable materials, especially in the lining, but to me it look cheap and poor quality.Thought it unlikely that an old design using primitive fabrics by a small British company would be a good option. Fabric: The Pertex Microlight Rip-stop outer is billed as completely windproof, fast drying and showerproof (with a 'spray rating' of 80/20; I'm not sure how this equates to hydrostatic head as measured on the other two jackets).
