About this deal

Mit "Collected" wird hier ein "Best-of-Album" präsentiert, welches uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen ist. This means that music from that piece of shit, the band's recent 100th Window, is more difficult to avoid; the anemic IDM drums and imitation- Kid A processed vocals of "Butterfly Caught" sound even worse when sandwiched between relative masterpieces like "Protection" and "Unfinished Sympathy". Much of the older tunes sound remarkably contemporary, which isn't surprising when you consider Massive Attack have always mixed styles in radical, new ways. Notes: The colour of the disc is black with 3 letter abbreviations for each of the 14 songs running along the outer edge.

This CDR contains full length instrumental versions of all 14 tracks found on the Collected album, which were never made available anywhere else or haven't even leaked online to this day. The group has only released four proper albums over the past 15 years: one absolute must-have masterpiece, two excellent long-players of languidly existential mood-music, and one total piece of shit. Notes: The tracks on this release are all edited snippets of the full songs, which explains the abbreviated duration times. Massive Attack have never been anyone's idea of a singles act, and that's what makes the idea of a best-of album a bit dodgy. They've always fit better into the UK's Eno-PiL-Radiohead continuum of woozy pop experimentalists than into any loosely defined electronica scene anyway, and listening now, it's remarkable how they managed to combine so much disparate source-material into their expansively deep groove.Notes: On both discs the 3 letter abbreviations for each of the songs/ video tracks are running along the inner edge of the disc, with the rest of the disc being pure sliver with no title information on it beside basic copyright information.

That's why Hollywood has been pillaging the group's catalogue for more than a decade, using its songs to score Sharon Stone humping a Baldwin in Sliver or Brad Pitt's mom's trailer burning in Snatch. Massive Attack are an English trip hop collective formed in 1988 in Bristol by Robert "3D" Del Naja, Adrian "Tricky" Thaws, Andrew "Mushroom" Vowles and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall. The debut Massive Attack album Blue Lines was released in 1991, with the single " Unfinished Sympathy" reaching the charts and later being voted the 63rd greatest song of all time in a poll by NME.

These instrumental versions were made by EMI's Sync department to offer to film and TV studios as background or soundtrack music for their commercials or TV shows. It comes in a different packaging to the original Special Edition release and also ditches the DualDisc and instead has two seperate discs for CD2 and the Videos (which now comes on a DVD).

On track 10 collaborated in addition: Craig Pruess (conductor [strings], strings [scored by]), John Baggot (keyboards), Gavyn Wright (orchestra leader), Isobel Griffiths (orchestra [fixer]), Louise Jeffery (piano, strings [additional scoring]), and Stuart Gordon (violin). Teardrop" is Massive Attack's biggest-ever hit, the only time the group grazed the UK's top 10 singles chart, but more Americans know it as the theme to "House" than anything else. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

Notes: This version is commonly referred to as the "Japanese Tour Edition" by many online retailers, even though it does not have anything printed on it to indicate so. Some editions of this special version, such as the Japanese and Argentinian issues, include, instead of the DualDisc, a second, standard audio CD with the rarities' content of the CD layer of the DualDisc, along with a separate DVD containing the music videos. Je me suis dit que la meilleure façon de me faire une idée de ce groupe, était d'acheter une sorte de "pot pourri" de l'ensemble de leur production, incluant le morceau figurant dans HUSH. With my present musical knowledge and tastes, which are certainly greater than the ones of yesterday but lower than the ones of tomorrow, I can honestly say this is the best 'Best Of' compilation I own and have heard so far. Massive Attack's music brings back memories: not that crazy weekend you piled into a van and drove down to New Orleans for New Year's Eve, but those quiet and isolated instants, images that stuck in your mind for no reason, moments when your life started to feel like a movie. La chanson est envoutante, l'ensemble instruments et voix illustre bien le nuage d'angoisse qui enveloppe le couple du film. The DVD included here includes all 16 videos from the Dualdisc versions of Collected, unlike all other DVD versions which only include 11 videos, up until Inertia Creeps.
