Since the first time I read the original GSX storyline as a kid (LOOOOOOONG after it was originally released), all the way through his reappearance in the Wedon/Cassaday Astonishing X-Men Colossus has always been my dude, and I love celebrating my favorites via plastic.

Everybody loves 616 Colossus, and this ML AOA Series 2 needed a BAF, so it might as well be a guaranteed icon like Colossus, right? The unmistakable stack of hair looks great, and I dig that they added that one little cowlick jutting out of the front.I’m not sure how Hasbro plans to repurpose Colossus’s upper torso mold (or for whatever characters it would even make sense to), but his belt and suspenders are a singular overlay add-on piece. Update: One sad, final note: As I was putting my Toy Biz Colossus in the retirement tote, one of his arms snapped off again.

These stay in place well and sit so tightly that my half-blind eyes didn’t even notice the belt wasn’t latched until I was done with the majority of the review photos. I have heard tell that there have been some joint quality issues with this figure as well, I don’t have that here, but it is something to be mindful of as well. The big surprise was something hiding in plain sight, though, and that is the shape of the helmet, too.Inspired by both iconic Marvel comic books and blockbuster movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these highly detailed 6-inch-scale Legends Series action figures are a perfect tribute to that legacy. The portrait packs a lot of personality, with Magneto’s struggle to lead The X-Men clearly taking its toll on him. Both the Colossus and Juggernaut figures come with 2 alternate hands, allowing fans to create dynamic poses and imagine the Super Heroes battling one another or teaming up to defeat a common enemy.

The girls toy aisles aren't our regular ball park but we occasionally like to try something different to our norm. I like my comic figures looking like bright comic panels, and this scheme, compared to the more muted palette of the BAF is much more to my tastes.

Nothing on this one is too egregious, but the belt has some slop lines in the gold, and there is a smack of silver right on the left cheek of Colossus’s brightly clad ass, so it can be noticeable. Trust me, as a lifelong Fantastic Four and X-Men fan, no one is happier to see those corners coming home than me, and we have some serious lost time to make up at this point. All that said, we have not even gotten to the fact that figure also comes with two new open hands for grabby-grabby action, as well as a destroyed helmet that fits over an unmasked and severely beaten portrait head. The plastic coif is pretty magnificent too, and his braids are soft and bendy enough so as not to impede articulation too badly.The red plastic is the same, and even the belt is lifted for this figure, albeit looking more purple than blue. So much so that I didn’t think I’d ever appreciate this figure as much as the orignal, but the Toy Biz. It still has the bolted neck ring, but that’s been reworked a bit, and this cape doesn’t hover over the shoulders like it did on the previous figure.
