About this deal

I agree that they might have been better in a thicker glossy paper, but they are perfectly acceptable to me. Full details of your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations are available in the UK from your local Citizens' Advice Bureau or your Local Authority's Trading Standards Office. Set in the richly crafted world of Middle-earth, it weaves a tale of heroism, friendship, and the battle between good and evil. There exist different families, different work teams, and versatile environments in any aspect of our lives. Read it and be transported away from this wretched world to the world of Middle-Earth which will take your breath away.

Registered address: Unit 31, Vulcan House Business Centre, Vulcan Road, Leicester, LE5 3EF, United kingdom. This beautiful illustrated edition was just another excuse to re-read what is in my opinion, the greatest story told in our time.To mark Folio’s 75th anniversary, Michael Ende’s The Neverending Story is published as a magical new edition, beautifully illustrated by award-winning artist Marie-Alice Harel and bursting with exquisite design details. Lee's classic illustrations were first published in Harper Collins' 'New' [single-volume] edition of 1991.

The unjacketed book features illustrated boards and includes a silk ribbon marker, and is housed in a special transparent slipcase; together with Alan's beautiful paintings, this new presentation of this landmark work provides the reader with the ultimate edition with which to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its first publication. It leads on nicely from the extremely charming first book and takes it in a considerably darker, more mature place. I also have the Harper Collins Deluxe edition box set of The Hobbit, LOTR (50th Anniversary), The Silmarillion and The Children of Hurin; the LOTR 60th anniversary single volume hardback edition illustrated by Alan Lee in a blue binder; the Deluxe LOTR Indian Paper single volume edition; The Hobbit illustrated by Jemima Catlin in a lovely cloth green hardback edition (this is actually my favourite edition of The Hobbit next to Alan Lee, with really good quality binding, paper and text font). And no editions have proved more popular than the two that were illustrated by award-winning artist, Alan Lee – the Centenary edition of The Lord of the Rings and the 60th Anniversary edition of The Hobbit. But if you continue moving forward, no matter how you feel or what you think, if you put one foot in front of the other and repeat this action without contemplating whether you’ll be able to do it until the end, you have a chance to throw that ring into the burning abyss and see a new, magnificent dawn. Featuring a fascinating introduction by Val McDermid and new illustrations by Juan Esteban Rodríguez, each copy has been signed by both the introducer and the illustrator. The sale of customised goods or perishable goods, sealed audio or video recordings, or software, which has been opened.

Adrian Harrington began trading in 1971, as part of Harrington Brothers in the Chelsea Antiques Market on London's fashionable King's Road. The Hobbit is a nice deeper shade of green, and the 3 volumes of LOTR are a red maroon – very nice and all combined with good quality gold printing on the spine. The book isn't too heavy and the pages open up flat, which makes it perfect for this who enjoy reading for long periods of time. These include the pages from the Book of Mazarbul, reproduced to accompany the famous ‘Bridge of Khazad-dum’ chapter. Given the length of the book, paper heavy enough to eliminate show-through completely would make for a more cumbersome volume. This is not intended to be a full statement of all your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations. The English-speaking world is divided into those who have read The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and those who are going to read them. All in all, while it's great to finally have Tolkien's original illustrations married with the text, the production of the book could be better, hence the dropped star. By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. For the first time ever, a very special edition of the classic masterpiece, illustrated throughout in colour by the author himself and with the complete text printed in two colours.

Because of the writing mentioned above, it's considerably denser and packed to brim with information. I did read “The Hobbit”, but eyeing its three-volume monstrosity of a sequel, I realised it’s not what I want to spend my time on. The cover underneath the jacket is very attractive, using Tolkien's own designs, the central emblem of which peeps out through a hole in the dust jacket.

Tolkien had seen her sketches and was so impressed that his executors gave special permission for Fraser to interpret them for these Folio editions. The printing of the text is inconsistent, fine on most pages but over-inked on some, which doesn't look great but is at least still readable. Boxed gift set of Tolkien’s classic masterpieces, fully illustrated throughout in watercolour by the acclaimed and award-winning artist, Alan Lee, Conceptual Designer on Peter Jackson’s THE HOBBIT films. A collection of narratives spanning the Elder Days of Middle-earth to the end of the War of the Ring.
