About this deal

Yes, it’s sharper in the extreme corners, yes it focuses a few cm closer, and yes it gathers twice as much light, allowing you to deploy faster shutters or lower ISOs under the same conditions.

bigger or camera-original © file to explore on your computer; mobile devices rarely display full resolution images at full resolution. The XF 35mm f/2 R WR feels solid with a good sturdy well-operating aperture ring and weighs a mere 6 oz.What I think happended in the direct RAW images, is that she liftet her arms behind her head with her black shirt. The lens formula and the extra f-stop give the bokeh a special look that has to be seen before you can truly appreciate it. Their lenses so far have seemed to be very fragile / sometimes with poor quality control / and are not durable at all.

The nine-bladed diaphragm bodes well for bokeh and the Nano-GI coatings for resistance to flare, two very important aspects of performance. Again, the figures peak at f/4, but the difference between the apertures is really not very much at all. The reason i ask is because i use 27mm with X-T10 and the lens is so noisy and the noise of the lens is capture in video . I tried for a while at various apertures to get the lens to generate the best sample of this but it’s very well controlled. Half depress the shutter to autofocus on the subject and then fine adjustments can then be made using the manual focus ring. Thanks to Leo’s Camera Supply in downtown Vancouver for making the Fujifilm 35mm f/2 R WR available to me for my lens reviews. It is extremely well suited for smaller Fujifilm X Series cameras such as the Fujifilm X-T30, Fujifilm X-E4, X-T200, or Fujifilm X-S10. With the initial reveal of the XF 35mm f/2 R WR Fujifilm made it abundantly clear that the X-series lens selection is getting closer to completion.

Apochromatic lenses have special lens elements (aspheric, extra-low dispersion etc) to minimise the problem, hence they usually cost more. The far corners improve as stopped down, optimum at f/8, but nothing in the corners is usually in focus anyway in photos that matter. It also illustrates how far Fujifilm’s come in lens design since the launch of the X-series and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a higher-end 35mm option in the future to properly replace the XF 35mm f1. The XF 35mm F2 WR heralded a series of ultra compact f/2 (mostly) lenses, bringing weather and dust resistance to the essence of what X series is all about. While this isn’t the best looking lens ever made, once you get past that, it is high quality glass, and one of the best prime lenses that I’ve ever used. The edge values are also very low, not quite as good as the centre, but still unlikely to be a problem even in critical photography.
