About this deal

Also, although the helmet has decent ventilation, it is a bit covered as well, so it should be capable of keeping some warm air from escaping in the cold. But for those able inflate it quickly, the helmet could have appeal for its comfortable fit and exceptional safety rating (it is the only collapsible helmet to be rated by the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab, which gave it five stars, and claims its soft pad design better protects for rotational impact than a traditional hard helmet). The Carrera is a good option if you want the amazing foldability of the Plico with an airier, more sophisticated, shell.

The creators have worked for years on the Hedkayse ONE, trying to develop something that’s actually different rather than just rebrand existing technology. And, as I said earlier, I’m not sure I’d ever go back to a helmet that doesn’t fold up like my FEND.

Whether riding a bike, scooter, or skateboard, these modes all contribute greatly to the impact we have on our environment.the CPSC standard, so it is not available in the US market, but it meets the CEN standard and is sold in Europe. These helmets are based off of the original, unpatented FEND design that first appeared on Kickstarter, which FEND abandoned after it became clear that the original design would not pass safety standards. Our team of expert French engineers has developed a unique folding system that does not bend when the helmet is worn.

The first folding helmet we know of that met the US CPSC standard was the Motorika Snapit, introduced in 1997. Same level of protection as a conventional helmet: EN1078 certification in Europe, and CPSC in the USA. It’s pretty overwhelming trying to navigate the dozen or so folding helmets that are on the market or coming onto the market, or were just recently taken off the market. To open, you either reverse the motion, or put the folded helmet on your head while pulling the outer ring down towards your ears.

This stylish CLOSCA bike helmet with patented folding system and reflective back adds a touch of style, design and safety - when folded, this helmet reduces to just 45% of its original size.

The Closca Fuga has a truly elegant design, with gentle rounded edges and a matte black or white color. Each panel consists of three layers of protection: a hard polycarbonate shell, a shock-absorbing elastic polyurethane foam, and an interior core made up of what Newton-Rider terms “supermolecules,” created from a proprietary non-Newtonian thermoplastic elastomer. Due to its innate flexibility, the helmet needed to be strapped on very tightly under my chin before it felt steady, and after the initial odd feeling I was able to enjoy the ventilation benefits that the structure provided, along with the extremely comfy liner padding which extended over every surface that touched my head. The Plixi folding bicycle helmet has an outer shell made of ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), which is impact resistant, relatively rigid and lightweight.Just the way that ketchup congeals again if you let it sit, the non-Newtonian molecules then reassemble back into their original configuration after the impact. Recently, I dusted off my bike after not riding for a few years and discovered that my ancient bike helmet was heavier and more uncomfortable than I remembered. It’s important to note here that we—cyclists, pedestrians, scooter riders, and car drivers alike—all share the road. On top of that, the helmet is built with a flexible memory foam-like interior instead of the hard EPS foam liner that most helmets use.
