Some of my major design contributions to this game project as a Senior Concept Artist are as follows: Iconic enemy demons such as the Marauder, Tyrant and Carcass, the Slayer’s Crucible Sword, the look and style of the Night Sentinel armors, all the giant robots in the game and the look and style of the Maykr homeworld, Urdak, including its lore and story. Update, 2 October: A third image gallery with demons (including one from the game’s upcoming DLC) is now available. A good part of us are from the 80/90s gen, so you can’t help but see the references in the colors and designs. Nothing wrong with this method, it gives you very clean results, but we found it more time-consuming and tedious. Also included in the book are environment/set designs, and of course weapons designs, with a few new additions to the familiar ones like the double-barrel shotgun and BFG, although they too get a visual overhaul. The final design of the Marauder would later influence the look of the armors worn by the Sentinel race. The Marauder was a difficult enemy design to nail down, given that he was supposed to be the arch-enemy of the Doomslayer. We explored many different type of looks for the Maykr race as we had set the precedent early on that we do not want them looking like the usual angel archetype, but we still wanted to infuse them with some sense of piousness in their design.
