About this deal

This affirms that you have read, accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions when completing your transaction. The characters were still great, and the strength, perseverance and love you feel throughout the book does keep you reading through all the ups and downs of the story. Among numerous bestselling novels, he is the author of The Abbot's Tale , The Falcon of Sparta , The Gates of Athens , Protector , The Lion , and Empire , all available from Pegasus Books. I have now read both books about Pericles and thought that the second was slightly better than the first.

Smartspot is primarily for the use of residents of Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Irish Defense Forces Overseas, or British Forces Overseas (BFPO). If this is not possible we will refund you the value of the missing item/s to the card used for original payment.Told with Conn Iggulden’s usual grace, Empire effortlessly transports the reader to one of the most significant times of the ancient world. Smartspot Ltd and their associates reserve the right to refuse to purchase any items at their sole discretion. Non-working examples: dead, cracked, broken/bleeding LCD (screen), not powering up, speaker/mic faults, broken aerial, etc. Having studied this period, I realise that Iggulden simplified the complex events for the benefit of his readers. Iggulden does fine work in his deft character studies of the principals and their various motives for alternately stirring up civil war or defending a new empire in the borning.

The series is based around the life of Julius Caesar, from childhood ( The Gates of Rome) to his eventual betrayal and death ( The Gods of War). The previous three books focused on Genghis Khan’s life and conquest, Khan: Empire of Silver revolves more around the life of Temujin’s children and Tsubodai’s extraordinary conquest of Europe. As he takes the legions north into mighty battles with the Gallic tribes, the imperious stand of Caesar and the leadership of his men, his new friendships with fellow leaders and his overwhelming ambition, begin to separate him from Brutus, the great swordsman and warrior. As the drums of battle draw closer, can Pericles rise to victory once more—or will the world's greatest empire fall under his watch? Set during the Greco-Persian Wars, it features the Battle of Marathon and the Battle of Thermopylae.

Reread excluded, Genghis: Birth of an Empire ended up becoming my first full 5-stars rating in two months. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately from the article and its talk page, especially if potentially libelous.

A tricky line to cross, which is why I think a lot of historical fiction authors have big historical figures in the background. These have not been my favourite books by the author, but I did enjoy reading them and they are worth looking at if you are interested in the famous characters and events of this period of history. But Iggulden is always conscious of the differences when drawing his characters and examining their motivations. Reading Temujin and his family trying their utmost best to survive was compelling; it’s unimaginable for me to put myself in their position. His greatest hatred is reserved for Brutus, Caesars childhood friend and greatest ally, now leader of the conspirators.
