About this deal

A few years ago school children were desperate for a Chilly’s bottle, now it’s this new age of pod water bottles (which cost more than most stainless steel bottles). Design-wise, the coffee cup is slight, meaning it slots easily into my rucksack without taking up too much room. Thanks to the leak-proof design, I can make my tea at home and throw it in my rucksack as I get the train to work and it’s still warm the other side. It comes with a matte protective sleeve that stops you from burning your hands, and is made from ceramic which is really durable (and doesn't make your drink taste funny). Every time I use this I am asked where I got it from it doesn't look like a typical travel mug so I'm sometimes asked what it is as well.

Waterdrop is fast joining the top names in the booming water bottle industry, with ambassadors including tennis stars Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz (Djokovic having reportedly made a fairly sizeable investment in the company). Unfortunately, during a commute home where I took a tube followed by the train, it did dampen the bottom of my rucksack. Well, it keeps your drink at your own preferred temperature - you can customise the temperature setting yourself - and it tells you when your drink has reached that preferred temperature. Firstly, the glass gets very hot to touch when the cup is full, and the cork grip only partially alleviates this (as it’s too thin to get your whole hand around). Good to know: Chilly's Series 2 coffee cups have an innovative twist mechanism that creates a very tight seal.UK consumers go through an estimated 14 billion plastic drinks bottles per year, according to Defra, but single-use plastic is falling out of favour thanks to efforts from David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg. It’s hard to make a water bottle stand out from the crowd in such a saturated market, but Contigo’s Autoseal technology is the best leak-proof design I’ve seen. To assemble, snap the carry handle into the designated cap spots, screw the antimicrobial collar onto the bottle, and top it off with the cap.

While the body of the cup is vacuum insulated, the lid isn’t, to allow the coffee to cool to drinking temperature. The cap screws onto the bottle like a normal cap, but once on, you can unscrew the middle bit all the way off, so you can drink freely like from a regular coffee mug, or half-way if you prefer to sip with a reduced flow. Using advanced double-wall vacuum technology, each cup is made of powder-coated high-grade stainless steel to keep your drink at the right temperature for longer and to preserve the flavour and freshness of its contents. It’s worth noting that there’s no option to close off the opening on this cup, so if it toppled on its side it would obviously spill out through the sipping hole. I bought a chilly 2 coffee cup after a couple of weeks the tabs that hold the disc on broke, I got a replacement and now it has broken again, I am always careful and line the holes up before separating the 2 parts. I like the trigger action lid: liquid only comes out if it’s pressed, rendering it completely leak-proof.
