About this deal

Your Moon Filter Set also includes a free download of Robert Reeves’ eBook, Lunar Landscapes, which goes into fascinating detail about the sizes of craters, how marias are formed, the natural history of the Moon, and more. The 5x24 finderscope provided with the bracket, facilitates the fast and accurate location of astronomical observations. The Orion Nebula looked good with the SVBONY 23mm; the outline of the southwestern edge (the brightest portion) was visible, along with a hint of green and three or four Trapezium stars at its heart. The filters have threads on the top and bottom to stack with other filters for even more light filtration options.

You’ll also enjoy using the FirstScope to pan the Milky Way, explore open star clusters, marvel at Saturn’s rings, or view favourite deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula. These are values which ideally would be at 0 but as our test optics are all curved lenses, there will always be astigmatism and coma present. The compact Dobsonian design means that this telescope can be displayed on a shelf or windowsill when not in use. Celestron Lens Cleaning Kit – dust can get everywhere and it’s important to keep the optics of your telescope and eyepieces clean. This full featured planetarium software is capable of printing star charts, displaying beautiful astronomical photos, helps you to identify planets and stars, learn the constellations, and much more. We’ve also created as series of helpful guides, such as our list of cool facts about astronomy (which any kids or beginners will no doubt find interesting), our guide to astronomy for beginners, and our article on astronomy for kids. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. However, if you are looking to make the most of its optical system while improving navigation, we recommend introducing a red dot finder, investing in a set of eyepieces that are respectful of the telescope's highest useful magnification of 180x and filters that will improve the contrast of solar system targets. Incidentally, it’s a good idea to take the scope out during the day to practise aligning the scope and focusing the view, especially if the Moon is visible in the sky at the time.

Since the scope is only a little more than a foot tall, you won’t be able to sit the scope directly on the ground, but that also means you can put it at almost any height, making it possible for almost anyone to use it. If you’re looking for additional resources to improve your stargazing experience, we have a number of articles that you might find helpful. You can use the Celestron FirstScope for starting on a fascinating journey across the night sky with your family. The second planet from the sun, Venus, made for an easy target in the southwest, shining at a stunning magnitude of -4.Learn more about extra solar planets imagery, 3D Star rendering, observation planning, telescope control, multiple-panel printing, and much more.

Simply move the optical tube by hand in the direction of celestial object you would like to observe, so navigating the FirstScope across the sky. When unpacking the FirstScope, you'll notice that it is already preassembled with only a finder scope needing to be affixed to the telescope tube. The Accessory kit was ok, apart from it was missing the Sky X CD it said it was supposed to come with. Learn more about the Moon with Robert Reeves’ Lunar Landscape eBook which goes into detail about the sizes of craters, how marias are formed, the natural history of the Moon, and other fascinating tidbits. However, switch the supplied 20mm eyepiece out for an inexpensive SVBONY 23mm and the view greatly improves.

Celestron Omni 2x Barlow Lens – a 2x Barlow will double the magnification of any eyepiece you attach to it. Using Celestron telescopes from his home in Texas, Robert captures more detailed images than professional astronomers could during the heyday of the Apollo missions. Inexperienced astronomers or children might not notice, but there are better quality eyepieces available that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Today, our world-class team of optical and electronic engineers continues to push the boundaries of technology.
