Since 2015 the series has been expanded with a parallel set of novels "as told by Christian": Grey follows the events of Fifty Shades of Grey but from the perspective of Christian Grey, Darker (2017) and Freed (2021) do the same for Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, respectively. As entertaining as it is informative, this book explores the history of incarceration in the British Isles from Anglo-Saxon times to the present day. Afterwards, each family member, which also includes 15 year old son Rowan, retreats into their own world of grief. L. James, initially a trilogy consisting of Fifty Shades of Grey (2011), Fifty Shades Darker (2012) and Fifty Shades Freed (2012). They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.

If you look at relationships in this day and age, there does not seem to be the same relevance placed on marriage and the communion of two people. I liked the level of characterization but it did tend to wander at times, hence the three-star rating. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.This is a beautifully written story of the dysfunctional and broken dynamics of a family still reeling with the grief of losing their daughter in a tragic accident.

The only thing more depressing than a child dying young is the devastation that descends on the family left behind. Hopefully you have all managed to find the book but if you haven't, you can still catch up and join in on a later discussion; however, this thread will be openly discussing up though (and including) Courtland Gamboge. But mainly it was the inability of me to keep track of who was where doing what that made me not like this story. The book is like a canvas with an overlay of fractured portraits, each providing a key to the family’s layers, none conclusive in themselves.
