Things go from bad to worse when a policeman barks his shin on the bed in the fog, and takes the children to jail until he can get hold of their mother. She naturally doesn't believe their explanation of how it happened and packs them up and ships them back to their mother. Additionally, almost three minutes were removed from the "Portobello Road" sequence, and the song "Eglantine" was also shortened. I can't help comparing this book to the excellent 1971 Disney movie version(one of my favorite movies!
