About this deal

Growing up on a hobby farm inspired her passion for the environment, wildlife, sustainable living and growing things. I also think a strong FMC is far more in demand lately, and should be more of what an author aims for when creating a book geared towards a younger or even female reader.

The bees are bringing in honey so fast this year, they are just storing it in cells faster than the queen can lay eggs in them.Suppose I correct the problem by adding an empty super, but I separate it by a queen excluder (because I want to harvest the honey from that super later on). We take what Mother Nature gives us and put a positive spin on it by freezing the pollen frames and using them to raise queens. Every empty cell is filled with nectar leaving a spotty brood pattern with no eggs or larvae in the hive. Deb Brandt-Buehler grew up on a hobby farm with ponies, dogs, cats, goats and a rooster named Clarence.

OK, I will have to trust that they will do the same for me until I go back into that hive to check what they're doing.

in regards to the first question and it relationship to swarming I think it is better to think of the process as two steps 1) being 'honey bond' and 2) 'back filling the brood nest'. The resolution is space, give them drawn empty frames, or move some of the honey frames up and give them foundation to draw.

This book's ability to gently introduce readers to the soothing embrace of cozy literature is an admirable feat that should not be overlooked.

Because if there’s no room for the queen to lay eggs, they can’t make several replacement queens, so they just simply leave. I will need to harvest the honey out of that brood chamber sooner than I planned, but that’s not all bad. You can switch brood-box positions, moving the upper box to the bottom to give the queen more room to lay because she’s likely not using the bottom box. Then I took 4 frames of syrup/nectar/honey from Squill, shook off the bees and put these frames in Crocus.
