About this deal

Summary: If you like shooting the enemy at range, Kronos is your friend. There’s not too much synergy between the shooting and anti-psyker aspects of the fleet, but it does potentially force psychic armies to be more cautious which in turn causes them to get shot more. Welcome to the Tyranids! This is part of the issue with list building for them. They have a lot of really fun and thematic options that you might not get to run all of them in a single list. If you’re a new player this can honestly be overwhelming. But, again, the Combat Patrol is something you can build from as you add models to your collection. And you’re always going to have too many ‘gaunts. That’s just how it works. There are so many ways you can diverge from this Combat Patrol…but we have to stop somewhere. The Tyranidswere drawn to our galaxyby the Horus Heresy, despite having no interest in the eternal war between mankind and Chaos. During Horus’ rebellion, the Pharos device was found – a beacon that allowed Ultramarine ships, among others, to sail the tides of the immaterium during a period of intense warp storms. If you’re looking to start a new Tyranid army then the new Combat Patrol box has got all the Biomass you need to get going! The two vehicles included in the set make this Combat Patrol perhaps the best deal in the range. Drukhari are a high model count army (which already means higher cash costsin general) and most lists will need at least a couple of the bigger skimmers to transport their squishy, lightly-armoured troops to the frontlines.Getting two in a discounted box is very welcome.

Combat Patrol - Warhammer 40,000

The Space Marines Combat Patrolis likely to be retired soon after the Leviathan launch box for 10th edition 40k is in stores; Warhammer Community has already revealed that the new Space Marines Combat Patrol will be drawn from the contents of Leviathan. Scuttling predators that can be armed with several different ranged bio-weapons, Termagants are ideal for controlling objectives in your territory – or swarming over enemy units foolish enough to try and hold them in midfield. Plus, wait until you see what their upgraded fleshborers can do.***

Tyranids in 10th edition

Summary: Gorgon is a poison fleet and it really shows in their bonuses, as it can tear down monsters and tough infantry in a sea of toxic talons. This is another fleet that really benefits large numbers of infantry and where Devourers might actually find some use (probably not). At this point, the Tyranid have a great range of models to choose from, each one potentially filling a role within your army. While you can lean entirely melee, psychic, or shooting, its typically going to be best to elect for a mix that can take on all-comers. If you’re just looking to put cool-looking models on the table, almost any choice is going to be “fine”, but if the aim is to be competitive it’s best to focus on units that will accomplish your goals. There’s a bit of an analysis for each unit in the codex review, but we’ll leave a complete discussion on the topic to the forthcoming Start Competing article. Collecting Your Army Rippers are also getting a new model set of models. On the plus side these should fit in very nicely with any of the older models you might have so blending the new and old will be easy.

Getting Started: Tyranids | Goonhammer Getting Started: Tyranids | Goonhammer

With how supportive this group has been with my dumb questions regarding tyranids, I wanted to know your combined thoughts on how to properly start the army! The result? Tense, involved, but straightforward games that can be played in less than an hour.* There’s still plenty of nuance for Warhammer 40,000 experts to enjoy – swapping out Enhancements and Secondary Objectives to mix up their playstyle, and mastering each faction’s Combat Patrol in turn, without having to build up a full Incursion or Strike Force-sized army.

To keep things balanced, the weapons options for the units have been fixed for all the Combat Patrol datasheets, so there’s no need to fret about your character and unit equipment prior to a game. You don’t need to worry about which guns to give your Chaos Space Marine Havocs, for example. This is a fairly standard foundation to an Ork army. Deffkoptas have long been popular for providing a cheap, tough option for gunning down ranged units, and their huge speed is useful for distracting tougher vehicles that could mow down your squishy grunts.
