About this deal

On the day that Ester Nilsson, a poet and a sensible person in a sensible relationship, meets renowned artist Hugo Rask, her rational world begins to unravel. Leaving her boyfriend and her past behind, Ester embarks on what is sure to be the greatest love story of her life . . . it’s a shame no one else agrees. She rescues a stray dog, lately on named Tag for obvious reasons, who adds a nice touch to the story. It was amazing how much the dog, house and Xander changed her. She felt more established and secure in her new life. Both, dog and man gave her peace and a reason to stop wandering. That big old house felt suddenly like a HOME.

Roland Michell is an unknown scholar, dedicated to the long-dead poet Randolph Henry Ash. When he unearths a document that hints at Ash’s illicit love affair with another poet, Roland has to find out the full story. He joins forces with another scholar, Dr Maud Bailey, and their fascination with the buried past serves as an aphrodisiac. This multilayered tale plays with obsession at different levels: romantic and intellectual, past and present. Nora Roberts' books and I have a long and varied history. The first thing of hers I ever read was Carolina Moon (still a favorite), and there have been many other favorites along the way. There've been just as many meh and do-not-like's as well, though.

Another peeve..........I felt as if I had read this plot before........somewhere!!! It felt old story again!!! It turns into a game of cat and mouse or more like python and a mouse (if you read the book, you'll get this). All in all, without more spoilers, it is one of the great books to read about obsessions and delusions. None of the parties is 100% innocent but one is slightly better than other and you hope that it wins. The most anticlimactic kiss ever. He just puts his lips on the heroine out of the blue. No chemistry. No anticipation. No passion. The dialogue continues as if the kiss didn't happen. Nicole Madigan is a victim-survivor, and this is a recount of the suffering and torment she endured at the hands of a bitter and twisted person. Xander!! OMG, what was not to like? Tall, handsome, rides a motorbike, he sings in a band ... and sings cover versions of SPRINGSTEEN!!!!!! How perfect. He could serenade me all night long as he strummed his guitar, while I strummed .... OK, getting a bit carried away there.

Her newest hardcover release Come Sundown will be out at the end of May – sooooon!!!! I can’t wait to read it. The blurb sounds amazing, the story plays on a resort ranch in Montana (would love to go there on a vacation) – again the topic is right up my alley. I cannot even tell you how many Nora Roberts books I have read in my life I've been following her for so many years. It seems like every single one is engrossing and better than the next. This is a brilliant, chilling, yet ultimately hopeful book. Part memoir, part investigative journalism, Obsession is an in-depth exploration of stalking.

All in all, this was a great read, Nora Roberts did a fantastic job on the suspense element, but I had an inkling of the identity of the perpetrator. Even so I think fans of Nora Roberts will enjoy this story of mystery, intrigue, and romance. My only complaint is that there was NO epilogue, which reflects in my rating, had we had an epilogue this definitely would have been a 5 Star read for me!! Imagine fearing for your life, only for the police to tell you there is nothing they can do to help you. King takes a generally harmless trait – being a bookworm – and makes it bloodcurdling. Annie Wilkes imprisons and tortures an author, hoping to create a better end for her favourite heroine. There’s a slyness to King’s portrait of Annie; most of us have obsessed over a beloved character, and authors wield a special power over our emotional lives. At the same time, readers’ expectations hold sway over authors – King was partially inspired to write Misery by his fans’ vocal outcry when he attempted a genre other than horror. The Obsession obviously snags one's interest but in my case I almost passed it on by BECAUSE of the title. But a few GR friends had read it and the plot looked so good. And it was! An attempt to contradict the belief is likely to arouse an inappropriately strong emotional reaction, often with irritability and hostility.
