Songs are very well crafted overall as that is really Parsons specialty, "Give 'em my love" is a prime example of what a great composer and arranger he is, the song just builds and then explodes. In May 2005, Parsons appeared at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California, to mix front-of-house sound for Southern California-based Pink Floyd tribute band Which One's Pink? as they performed The Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety. [12] Opener "Fare Thee Well" is a moving homage to Parsons' former musical partner Eric Woolfson in The Alan Parsons Project, who passed away in 2009. Great lyrics, but unfortunately a bland chorus and an unnerving saxophone solo. The Secret" (nobody knows, why it wasn't included on the album of the same name) is too long and suffers from utterly boring drums, but nevertheless it's got a certain The Beatles charm (hey, John Lennon!). Guitars - Alan Parsons, Jeff Kollman , Dan Tracey, Doug Powell, Jeff Marshall, James Durbin, Tim Pierce

Instead there is a cover version of the 1963 hit "Be My Baby" ( The Ronettes), here neatly sung by one Tabitha Fair. In 1998, Parsons became vice president of EMI Studios Group, including the Abbey Road Studios. He soon left the post, deciding to return to more creative endeavours. Parsons remained as a creative consultant and associate producer for the group.Lady Antebellum vs. The Alan Parsons Project". Freshmilc.com. Archived from the original on 7 November 2011 . In fact, he remains as motivated to create as ever. Thankfully 'You Are the Light' spared is another ballad, instead showcasing a mid-tempo pop tune. Featured Parsons and Dan Tracey on lead vocals, the song featured a catchy, but anonymous melody. It would have been better were it not for Parsons flat and uninspired vocals. Tracey's contributions simply buried Parsons. Should have let him handle lead vocals.

In an age of auto tuned singers and new albums sounding as if they were made to measure it is a pleasure to hear that the old masters are still working hard at their craft. Towards the end the album gets a bit darker with themes of death in "Goin' Home", which is beautifully song, but then takes a strange twist with Ronette's cover of "Be My Baby" From The New World is Alan Parson’s sixth studio album since disbanding The Alan Parsons Project, and it is probably the closest sounding album to The Alan Parsons Project in his solo career. This is not a bad thing, but the album certainly has its foundation in the original sound of The Alan Parsons Project. As with previous Alan Parsons albums, he continues the practice of employing a number of musicians and vocalists. However, the end result is a singular sound/view of Alan Parsons. All in all, From the New World, apart from the cheap cover artwork, is a nice late addition to the canon of this 73-years old gentleman, whose right hand I once had the great pleasure to shake after a show here in Hamburg in 2004, when he tirelessly wrote autographs, until everybody was satisfied. Of all his collaborators, guitarist Ian Bairnson worked with Parsons the longest, including Parsons' post-Project albums: Try Anything Once, On Air, The Time Machine and The Secret. Though he clearly could’ve continued his highly successful recording studio career, Parsons went on to form The Alan Parsons Project in 1975. He credits singer/lyricist Eric Woolfson, the other half of the duo, for being “the main mover and shaker” in instigating this career shift. It turned out to be a good move: their international hits include “Games People Play,” “Time,” “Eye in the Sky,” and “Don’t Answer Me,” among many others.
