When I look closer at the inside of the light I also notice how Fenix nicely puts its products together and properly finishes them. The torch is an upgraded version of the popular V1 and offers brighter outputs, further reach and improved runtimes. I suppose you could walk the dog with it, and your arms might just get a workout at the same time, win-win!

The RC40-2016 has the largest hotspot and will provide you with the most amount of light at large distances. Most light is located at a short distance, but also the trees located about 450 meters away are clearly illuminated.

With the 18 XP-G3 S4 LED lights (which draw much more power from the battert) I was only able to reach the medium mode of 3000 lumens.

Simply rotate the toggle switch to the required mode to select it, then use the central push button to cycle brightness levels. From locked, this will always go on to the lowest spot mode, a useful reset (however the flood mode and combined flood/spot does remember the level it was last used on).

It is a serious light, for serious use and is both large and heavy, but at the same time, considering its performance, it is very compact. This little (3535 size) Luxeon LED has been around for a few years, had some testing done at BLF, and never really seemed to generate much interest in the enthusiast space.The battery is nicely secured in place and is protected from outside blows with the help of the gold-plated springs.
