Retrieved December 27, 2017. 5. Indian Reservation – Paul Revere and the Raiders: Reason – Historically inaccurate. The Cherokees never lived on a reservation. They lived in Cherokee Nation, a nation unto itself. Also, I am not fond of the line, 'But maybe someday when they've learned, the Cherokee Nation will return.' Return to what? We haven't gone anywhere. Earl Kliethermes from Jefferson City, MissouriI can't believe someone repeated the myth that Mark Lindsay is not the lead singer. It is quite obviously Mark Lindsay. Belfast Boy" is a song by the British singer Don Fardon. Released as a single in March 1970 it spent five weeks in the UK Singles Charts, peaking at number 32. It is a tribute to the Manchester United and Northern Ireland footballer George Best, then at the height of his career. [1] It was featured in a BBC documentary of the same year The World of Georgie Best. In The Number Ones, I’m reviewing every single #1 single in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, starting with the chart’s beginning, in 1958, and working my way up into the present. In 1971, the Raiders recorded "Indian Reservation" for Columbia Records, and it topped the Hot 100 on July 24. [5] On June 30, 1971, the RIAA gold certified the record for selling over a million copies. [6] The record was later certified platinum for selling an additional million copies. [6] The song was the group's only Hot 100 Number 1 hit and their final Hot 100 Top 20 song. Loudermilk was given songwriter credit on Indian Outlaw because a few bars of Indian Reservation are included in the later song.

Reviews

In spite of the song's title, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians and the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma are not known as "reservations", [9] and singing that they may someday "return" is at odds with the fact that these Cherokee Nations still exist. [9] Jon from Oakridge, OrI heard the Raiders were kidding around when they made this and so it became a controversy. Is this right. Breihan, Tom (February 1, 2019). It spent three weeks at #2 before moving up to the top spot, then after being at #1 for one week it spent two more weeks at #2... The music is in a minor key, with sustained minor chords ending each phrase in the primary melody, while the melody line goes through a slow musical turn (turning of related notes) which ends each phrase, and emphasizes the ominous minor chords. Underneath the slow, paced melody, is a rhythmic, low "drum beat" in double-time, constantly, relentlessly pushing to follow along, but the melody continues its slow, deliberate pace above the drum beat. Native American Country artist Buddy Red Bow covered the song for his self titled album. [32] See also [ edit ]
