About this deal

My first work from Rin Usami and my second work from Asa Yoneda, Idol, Burning not only talks about dependancy of humans to something as a coping mechanism, it delves into the toxic culture of the internet, the effects that it has on various people, and mostly, on being constricted to the societal standards of normal.

Alles was man sich beim lesen denkt, wird dann auch gedacht, verbalisiert und nochmal durch das Außen gespiegelt und eingeordnet. Its a book that may not be for everyone, but its one that I do have a deep understanding for and I loved the message that the author was trying to bring. Các fan lần lượt mua những món lưu niệm, họ muốn sở hữu CD, DVD, hay thậm chí là những món ăn và đồ dùng có hình ảnh thần tượng. Idol, Burning is a novella exploring stan culture, mental health and identity against a backdrop of the stressful high-performance culture of the Japanese education system. Usami's unflinching depiction of a deeply alienated young woman makes for powerful commentary on the toxicity of social media and fan culture.

As someone that is a fangirl from a young age and that has a massive interest in fandom, I enjoyed this one more than I thought. This obsession swallows every aspect of her life and is closely tied to the foundation of Akari's own identity, so when Masaki is accused of punching a fan at the opening of the narrative, the ensuing fallout has a huge impact on her. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It would have been nice to see a deeper portrayal of a fan's life (not all of them suffer from untreated psychological problems). We are left without a satisfying conclusion - which is frustrating - to the Masaki story; however, when you remember it's Akari's story, it's more satisfying.

Written by a young author, only a few years older than her characters, the novel sheds light on the darker side of fandom— the obsession, unreasonably strong emotional involvement, manipulative marketing or toxicity of social media.

There are very bleak aspects to this story but it's all rendered in a way that comes across as realistic more than pitying or cruel. Das alles wird ohne große literarische Raffinesse erzählt und ist leider schon in vielen Coming-of-age-Romanen erzählt worden und in vielen sehr viel besser. For all ebook purchases, you will be prompted to create an account or login with your existing HarperCollins username and password. A voice crying out in darkness - captures the loneliness, the fervor and the all-consuming escapism of idol fan culture and how it provides comfort and fuel for youth struggling in every other part of their daily lives. This isn't a story about a girl being torn apart and forced to question everything she's believed in; it's more of a portrait of the insidious nature of obsession, and the ways in which it can lead you to become disconnected from reality.
