About this deal

While the difference between 240Hz and 144Hz is not as noticeable as it is between 60Hz and 144Hz, it’s definitely there, and if you want the smoothest gaming experience with minimal input lag, it’s worth the extra cost. Where you put your monitor is almost as important as what model you buy. The monitor should be directly in front of you, at an arm’s length away (between 20-40 inches from your eyes). The top edge of the screen at eye level when you are sitting comfortably. You may need to adjust your chair height or the height of the monitor to achieve this. Yeah strobing can be cause eye strains or headaches, from my experience your eyes get used to it after some time and these kind of downsides eventually disappear (strobing brightness also plays a huge role in this). In other words, MBR is not for everyone and a lot of casual players wouldn’t be able to tell the difference or would consider it too minor to care. There’s no way of telling whether it’s something you would like to use without actually trying it first though. Unlike most 240Hz models, the Dell S2522HG doesn’t offer MBR (Motion Blur Reduction) and HDR (High Dynamic Range) support. Is this something you wouldn’t be using anyway or a big omission on Dell’s part? Let’s find out! Image Quality

With the stand attached to the monitor, you can tilt and swivel the monitor for the most comfortable viewing angle. The stand of the monitor is robust and versatile with up to 130mm height adjustment, -5°/21° tilt, 90° pivot, +/- 45° swivel and 100x100mm VESA mount compatibility. Further, while MBR is active, it reduces picture brightness and most MBR implementations cannot be enabled at the same time as VRR. What truly makes the XV252QF shine is strobing at 390hz, especially with OD Extreme (I tested in SmoothFrog with custom user images with Apex/CSGO/Overwatch Screenshot and VRB Extreme+OD Extreme is the clearest even though some reviewers recommend OD Normal, which is okayish from a "0 overshoot" perspective but arguably provides worse results).

Note: 1 ms is achievable in Extreme mode to reduce visible motion blur and increased image responsiveness. However this may introduce some slight and noticeable visual artifacts into the image. As every system setup and every gamer's needs are different, we recommend that users experiment with the different modes to find the setting that is right for them. Note: In the Portrait mode, you may experience performance degradation when using graphic-intensive applications such as 3D gaming. No POST - Your computer is not showing any indication of activity, the screen might be blank and will not display the Dell logo during start-up.

To take advantage of 240Hz, you’ll need to be able to maintain a high enough frame rate – ideally 240FPS, but anything north of 144FPS is good. We feel that you should be able to maintain at least ~180FPS to feel a boost from 144Hz/FPS. With the Super Fast mode, there’s no noticeable ghosting or overshoot, allowing you to enjoy fast-paced content without any visual artifacts. The VG259QM doesn't have any issue aside from ELMB+VRR not being usable (ELMB is fine) and has a good amount of overdrive granularity but it's not 100% compliant with 280hz. Change the color-setting mode in the Color Settings On-Screen Display Menu (OSD) to Graphics or Video, depending on the application. Removable stand and Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA™) 100 mm mounting holes for flexible mounting solutions.

If you’re also using your monitor for work or other types of games as well, then a 1440p 144Hz display is worth considering too. Before you rotate the display, ensure it is completely extended vertically and completely tilted up to avoid hitting the bottom edge of the monitor.

Equipped with one SuperSpeed USB 5 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen1) Type B upstream port, one SuperSpeed USB 5 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen1) Type-A downstream charging port, and three SuperSpeed USB 5 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen1) Type-A downstream ports. The VierwSonic XG2431 (i would have to import it from the US) and the Acer 390hz (100 euros more than both of the contenders here in dispute) were also in my shortlist but because of the reasons were taken away. Make sure that the video cable connecting the monitor to the computer is connected properly and is secure. The monitor uses the same IPS panel found in the other 24.5″ 1080p 240Hz displays. So, you get flawless 178° wide viewing angles, ensuring that the picture remains perfect regardless of the angle you’re looking at the screen. One feature the Dell S2522HG is missing in comparison to its alternatives is Motion Blur Reduction technology.

Dim or discolored video can be caused by the video cable, so try reseating the cable and swapping with a known good part. Additional monitor information like the model number, firmware version and Service Tag can be accessed from the monitor's OSD (On-Screen Display). Further, the Dell S2522HG can get more than bright enough even in well-lit rooms thanks to its peak brightness of 400-nits, while the static contrast ratio amounts to around 1,000:1, which is standard for IPS monitors. Wireless USB peripherals responding slowly or only working as the distance between itself and its receiver decreases. That's actually incredible. The smoothness sounds like a dream. I recently upgraded to a 3060TI from a 980TI and my old TN monitor (XL2411Z) doesn't have a HDMI or DP output. I tried an active adapter and unfortunately that didn't work either so now I am on the hunt for a new monitor. I was reading that upgrading from 144hz to 360-390hz is more worth it than going from 144hz to 240hz, but I don't know how true that is because when the XG2431 did work for those few days, it was honestly the most incredible thing I've seen. Zero motion blur and so smooth!
