While there's probably very few fans who would want to see a CG'ed version of Jaws, it would have been wonderful to see this test footage in some kind of a featurette -- something that would also reiterate Spielberg's firm anti-tinkering stance. Deleted Scenes and Outtakes (SD, 14 min) — Exactly as it sounds, a good collection of excised sequences worth checking for fans of the film. Mixed in with a wealth of footage shot on set and behind-the-scenes, it’s still essentially a talking-heads piece, but it’s still certainly one hell of a talking heads documentary. I’m amazed that more newer material hasn’t been added, but the 2-hour documentary is still a hard one to beat and after that I can’t say much more could probably be said about the making of the film. The iconic music of John Williams bleeds fluidly into the surrounds, beautifully enveloping the listening area with excitement and thrills. I'm not going to shame myself with exact details here, but suffice to say, the dialogue is crispy and crystal clear. That degree of restoration can raise questions of about how far studios should go in rejuvenating classics, especially when it comes to colour timing.

When I finally saw the movie for the first time it was as a double bill with Jaws 2, - How lucky was I! Jaws Archives (HD) — An amusing collection of storyboards, production photos and promotional art showing the lighthearted humor shared by all involved.

What’s especially nice, though, is that the sound quality between the many layers of the track sound to be the same in terms of quality. Though I was fine with the surround track I was still happy to see that Universal also includes the original mono track, presented in DTS 2. There’s been some tweaking and a little bit of scrubbing, but nothing problematic comes up because of it. This is not to imply that 'Jaws' doesn't offer any interesting filmmaking techniques or display any creative methods which impress on the same level of caliber and skill.Fields only provided short glimpses of the mechanical prop, which in effect allows the mind run wild, filling in the gaps and creating fear purely from our own imagination. This film is all about suspense, about the quiet before the action, the stillness before the sudden scare, and Spielberg’s direction is spot-on.
