About this deal

The only things that put me off was the religious slant on the book although it turns out that this nothing more than a fanatical religious sect and not based on true Christian beliefs. EDIT: I noticed that the revolver was replaced with a M1911, seemingly, and that the scale of environmental assets was messed up in several places. Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Dead Tracks by Tim Weaver, read by Joe Coen, Hannah Arterton with Tim Weaver. I'm glad about that because it would be so easy to focus on whats wrong instead of whats right, and yeah I just put in an hour of play time in and there are more than a few bugs and misdirections, but.

A year after the death of her son Alex, Mary Towne is convinced she's seen him alive - and wants missing persons investigator David Raker to find him.

Whenever I read it, I felt like I was in the book doing all the things that this twisted book included. Born, left behind in a hospital by her biological mother a young woman who feels an affinity with the abandoned dead, finds more than she bargained for. Still raw and grieving from the loss of his wife, David reluctantly agrees to look for Alex and finds himself caught up in a violent and deathly chase for survival. Suffice to say there is a fanatical religious undertone to the proceedings and in the final pages a somewhat miraculous discovery about Alex Towne's family which I found somewhat unbelievable.

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Chasing the Dead by Tim Weaver, read by Joe Coen and Lee Ingleby. Having already read the two most recent books in this fantastic series, namely You Were Gone and No One Home, I decided to go right back to the very beginning with Chasing the Dead. The twists and subplots are what keep the book going and although at times it is a bit far fetched, he keeps the momentum going until you are gasping for breath. And yet, after a while, when the money really started coming in, Derryn persuaded me to rent some office space down the road from our home, in an effort to get me out, but also - more than that, I think - to convince me I could make a career out of what I was doing. The subject matter, evil alternative religion, is nasty and I really didn't see the final twist coming.

His novels have been selected for the Richard and Judy Book Club three times, and his work has been nominated for a National Book Award and the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger. His latest assignment is to find Alex, a young man who was killed in a car accident, but whose mother swears she's seen him alive. In the hope of saving her daughter from a kidnapper whose origin seems darker than anything she could ever have imagined, Sue will discover just how much trauma and fright the human body is capable of absorbing.
