Normally, having just one lens option to choose from isn’t ideal – but here, it’s not an issue because the lens performs so well anyway. The length of the 60 means that I can only fit it on the camera in that bag, so the length reduces by two full lenses the amount I can take in that bag. You have shallow depth of field, but just enough in focus where it counts to still capture the face crisply while everything else falls out of focus.

For my photography, I can’t imagine the use of the recently announced (in development) Olympus macro “around” 100mm. Also, the flash recharge time will need to be longer if you shoot at a higher flash power than what I mentioned above. The only reason I would suggest to look elsewhere is if you are looking for a super macro lens that grants a higher reproduction ratio than 1:1, in which case the Venus Optics Laowa 50mm f/2. Micro Four Thirds is at an inherent disadvantage when it comes to bokeh, due to the 2x crop factor, but the 60mm f/2. This 1x* magnification macro lens features a dustproof and splashproof construction as well as high image quality and high contrast.This level of distortion is so low that lines parallel to the edges of the image area appear dead straight.
