I like the Torque Drive cleaning head more than the Direct Drive, but I also wish that we could have had the mattress tool and up-top adaptor with the Dyson V11 models. If you are worried whether the Dyson V11 Absolute is complicated to use, we can tell you right away that it’s absolutely not! The new roller automatically adjusts the suction power to the surface and is therefore suitable for all floor types. However, the main difference in the included accessories is that the V11 Animal Extra comes with the "direct drive electric brush" that you probably know from previous models like the Dyson V10. The suction performance was already very good in the predecessor V10 and it’s still on a top level.

The Dyson V11 is heavier than the V10, and it can be quite noticeable at first. With the larger battery life and slightly longer size, it is hard to keep new models below 3kg. Auto Mode adjusts suction to different floor types allowing you to hoover hardwood floors and carpets without making any adjustments. An integrated digital motor spins the brush bar up to 60 times a second. It drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to remove dirt, and carbon fibre filaments capture fine dust on hard floors. When using the main floorhead, as we did in our tests we got 40 mins on eco down to just 7 mins in boost mode, though generally speaking, you would use in standard(medium) for most tasks where we achieved a 20 min run-time.

A new, higher-capacity lithium-ion battery means the runtime of up to 60 minutes matches the V10 models, despite the V11’s extra power, and the trigger switch means no wasted battery caused by the motor running when you’re not actually cleaning. The filter and floor heads can be removed for cleaning, and there’s no need to get your hands dirty emptying the V11 – just push the lever down and the 0.76-liter bin pops open, dropping the dirt straight in the bin.

This new brush has much harder bristles that are also further apart. With this you can scrub off coarse dirt, e.g. from tiled floors. But be careful that you don’t cause scratches with this one.
