About this deal

Ahead of the album release Busted teased fans with the release of tracks Nineties, Reunion, All My Friends and Radio but the first official single, Radio, didn’t arrive until last month. People who are commenting about fightstar, you do know Busted are better and bring in more money, right?

The title is a play on the reference in their huge hit ‘Year 3000’ to the band releasing their seventh album.

They wrote more material than ever, much of it at Bourne’s apartment in North London where they spent so much time together back when they first started the band. I think busted must have long had a level of self awareness that their music operates in this way though. The started the campaign for the new album by playing three chaotic sold-out shows in a day at the 100 Club, and then dropped a throwback video for ‘Nineties’which revived the days of Top of the Pops, Blind Date, Nirvana and white-suited boy bands.

They constantly revisited each idea to make the album as strong as it could possibly be, and also had the opportunity to work with their dream producer Gil Norton, the man behind classic albums from Foo Fighters and Pixies. Race to Mars and Reunion tap into the expected Busted hymnbook by offering familiar glimpses alas 2003’s A Present for Everyone, but with a rejuvenated vigour that sits comfortably among the very best of 2019’s pop punk royalty. The album's title is a reference to a lyric in Busted's 2003 single " Year 3000": " Everybody bought our seventh album / It had outsold Michael Jackson".But when that one concept is what your entire album is based on, it’s hard to get much enjoyment out of it, given that the only reason it actually exists is to remind the audience of how things were.

Nineties opens the album and it’s essentially a modernised version of the music the band was making the first-time round. What happened to your band was originally performed with Son of Dork way back in 2007 and then appeared on McBusted's album in 2014. And that’s exactly what the lads have done with this exceptional, exhilarating and at times moving album. After months of speculation Busted finally confirmed their reunion in November 2015 and hit the road with their Pigs Can Fly Tour the following year. During this trip, they also continued writing and began recording for their planned fourth studio album.

We carry a broad range of CDs and vinyl (7”/12” singles and LPs) and specialise in indie, alternative, rock, punk, metal plus a few other genres. Yeah, it’s not something that will appeal to an older demographic, but from a technical level these songs are well sung, and are concisely written from the “How To Pop-Punk For Dummies” guide. The album thankfully doesn’t take too long to get through, and ends on a high with one of its funniest and worst written songs ‘it happens’ which tells the history of busted.
