About this deal

Brutal Strike (Quad, Headclaimer and Bestigor Destroyer): A good chance to allocate 8 damage to an engaged enemy. This means that, while the Spire Tyrants looks like a bunch of berserking madmen and -women, they require a lot of careful planning for their abilities to pay off. It’s easy to define the matchups between other warbands and the Splintered Fang. You can put out some serious damage. You cannot take much at all or you will lose.

Slaves to Darkness are the successor to Warriors of Chaos from Warhammer Fantasy Battles and are more or less intact to their original version. The majority of the models are just Warriors of Chaos, with Archaeon the Everchosen and a Start Collecting with some new chaos warriors. The older models have held up surprisingly well standing next to the the newer stuff and the diversity grants a fair bit of flexibility in list building. We’re going to eschew Archaon as he changes the dynamic significantly and look at a variety of options that lay open to you as a Slaves to Darkness warlord. Allegiance: Slaves to Darkness It’s the color of these plates that unites the visuals of a warband that otherwise looks like models from a handful of different kits. You have to have some numbers in this game. The minimum warband size is 3, and that would be a super bad idea. The maximum warband size is 15, and while that would be amusing that would force you to take a lot of low point models like goblins or skeletons or gnoblars or whatever, which have their place (pushing buttons, dragging treasure, tying up models that cost four times as much, etc). They aren’t necessarily what you want to spend all your points on when you will want to take some good stuff.

The warband’s ability to damage the enemy is very tethered to Crits on most units. However, should your Crits pop off they will end the game. This “all-in” playstyle summarizes the Splintered Fang to a T, they want all of their fighters fighting from Turn 1, and they want to stay fighting in as many activations as possible. As in the fighting pits of the Varanspire, the Spire Tyrants do not ascribe to concepts such as honour or valour. The blood and thunder of the arena has long lost its allure for these warriors. Instead they seek greater tests, venturing out into the lethal wilds of the Eightpoints. There they look for worthy foes and challenges, hoping to earn infamy enough to gain the favour of the Everchosen. These champions retain the names and epithets they earned in the arena. They also maintain the arrogance and showmanship that defines the greatest gladiators, favouring bloody eviscerations and decapitations over a simpler, more efficient kill. The sight of such a gruesome death can steal the nerve from even a veteran fighter. [1c] To mark any territory they claim they erect piles of weapons with the heads of their former wielders upon them. [1b] Tactics The 3” whip enables the Venomblood to fight at a greater distance. While nowhere near as killy as the Spear-armed variant, the whip is a good applicator of Paralysing Venom. Smear toxins across your lash and give the enemy a taste from behind the safety of a Chaff screen. The Pit Veteran with options can also be built with a metallic visor instead of the regular face, which looks really cool but doesn’t affects its statistics. The first step to an effective Splintered Fang warband is deciding which direction you want to build them in. The warband direct from the box is fine against other boxed Warcry warbands but the moment you face an optimized list you will go down hard. The two key ways to build a Splintered Fang warband are choosing to prioritize the strength of your infantry, or the unique nature of your Serpent Caller. Personally I opted to play around with infantry, so that is the list we will go over.
